I have used this extension extensively through out the last four years of designing for many clients and friends as well as using it for my own projects.
Occasionally this extension doesn't work with 'paid' or commercial templates, but normally the developers of the template you purchased are willing to help you get it to work, if not, you may want to look into another template provider.
This is a great extension and I highly recommend it. For it's price, which is nothing, it is clearly the best option if you're looking for a site-wide chat system.

Installed it on my website and it works perfectly. It's explained in the reviews by the author that there is an issue with the Confirm E-mail form being after the password forms and that some Joomla hacking could fix that. I take it as it is and use it for my website as is, and it works fine for me. Great job!
