The Joomla! Extensions Directory ™

This is a great plugin option for skimlinks and I have been considering using this for a couple months now but there is no specific documentation for JAD Skimlinks on the developers site and and no way to contact the developer.
This plugin appears to only accommodate skim links and I was hoping this plugin incorporated skim words... but there is no way to find out if they can do both.
Also, it doesn't specifically show 1.7/2.5 compatibility so I guess it's off my list for now :/

I am looking for a component to replace Gary's Cookbook and came across this extension.
I have been trying to find an example site using it considering the developer doesn't have one working but I have had no luck.

I checked the forums and there seem to be some people happy with the extension but the only recent discussion is about requests to remove the copyright text. Up until the most recent request, the developer seemed accommodating.

Caution: visiting the developer's site causes a lot of pop-ups on your computer!

Does this extension work?
What versions of Joomla does it work with?

NOVICE BEWARE!
I have waited a long time to write this review to give Maxx a fair shot but.... it's time.
I hate to complain about free but I have upwards of 120 hours wasted on this component and after a 2 months of working on it, still do not have a working store. There is simply not sufficient documentation, and NONE in English. Most of the install and config seemed like you could just figure it out without the docs so I got the store fully set up then couldn't get it linked to any form of payment. I have searched intensely for help on their site (and on the web) and they do not respond in the forums.
When I emailed them, I got the response "you can book a day programming for about 200.- € plus tax". They didn't even offer a tutorial, link or other form of self support except that they have a forum available. We run a FREE resource community and I would never treat a user/member like this.
I have used Joomla for 2 years and as of right now, this is the worst free component I have dealt with simply based on documentation and support (maybe I just have good luck). I am happy to donate/pay for good, quality working components because I understand and appreciate their contributions.
The only reason this even got an average rating from me is because I can see potential in it or I would have given it a poor rating. Had I gotten even a good documentation link from Maxx, it would have gotten a good rating... maybe even Excellent and a donation if it helped me solve my problem.

Without a doubt, I can say this is the BEST map extension. You really can install it and it just works. The documentation is simple and I will certainly help to write more if it is needed. This is BY FAR the easiest and most functional map you will find.
If you need any customizing done, just contact Fabrice and work out a payment and he will do a WONDERFUL job for you! Very responsive and helpful.
PLEASE be sure to donate if you use this extension! This extension needs to be considered as Editor's Choice for maps. I can't say enough nice things about GMapFP and I have been working with this extension for months!

I read the previous review from acke and saw the developer's response so I downloaded it and went to the site ) for further info and soon found out this is FAR from an "out of the box" weather solution as the description seems to imply.
It is unclear what you which sample did what so I downloaded the first one and looked at the .pdf included. It explains this as an award winning solution and gives testimonials but then it gets to the databases you need and I was still confused by what would be included in the sample vs the purchased database.

Hope this saves others research time and effort. Needless to say - my search for an interactive weather module/component continues.

If all you need is a very basic current conditions and temp for the next 3 days, this will work for you perfectly. If you want anything more elaborate, look elsewhere.

Easy to install and customize! Just what I was looking for - THANK YOU!

I got this map a couple months ago and the download was $8.99 which is reasonable but considering I had a hard time finding examples and documentation prior to the download, I was leery.
The module turned out to be very clean and appealing with the ability to input your own hex# for base color and rollover colors for each state plus use a background behind your map without knowing CSS. You can also customize tooltips and links per state all in an easy to use backend module.
The only complaint was that you can only include one link per state and I was hoping to be able to add multiple links based on the text in the tooltip but I solved this by putting the links in the landing page of the state click (adding an extra click for the end user but functional).
Today I stumbled on a problem. The state links don't work in Firefox. I am not sure if they every worked as I made the rookie mistake of only testing in IE and Chrome.

All-in-all, it is a very clean, professional module that is easy to install and use even for a novice but I couldn't give it a top rating as the there was no demo or upfront documentation/support.
