- deletions are not sync'ed on an article base, only with the batch sync mode (which is not advised with large sites)
- changes in the menu structures are not sync'ed
- status changes of articels are not sync'ed
The limitations are caused by the used Joomla event framework and can not be solved by the extension developer themselfes, of course. But if I read "sync of content" I expect a sync of the CONTENT of the website - and not only of changed articles.
The batch sync, which solves some of the issues, can only be initiated by timed events (hourly, daily, ...) but not on "do it now, please". Which makes bigger "go-lives" of new production versions of sites difficult - I have to sync my other upload activities with the time clock of SYNK... And, the developers themselves state that the batch sync mode is not advised for large sites due to the load issues caused by large scale SQL queries...
Also is the initial setup a bit laborious - why do I have to add predefined Joomla events by hand and activate the sync plugins manually? I would also expect predefined Joomla events and "default" synchronisations after installation - those would be simple to add, so why let the user do it?
After all - a useful plugin, but they still have a way to go.
Thanks for the comments. And I'd agree that you need to double-check to make sure SYNK will do what you need before you jump into it.
Most of the issues that you indicate are due to the fact that we use the Joomla functionality that is available to a Joomla extension - so there are some limitations.
As for the set-up, there's really no way to do a 'default' configuration as SYNK is used in MANY different ways by different people. If we did something to make it easy for some, it would probably make it harder for others.
Just note that it will take a bit of time to configure to get it up and running.
