However, the component is not compatible with 2.5 as specified by the developer. I cannot access any of my calendars having updated to 2.5 following the developer's public blessing of 2.5 compatibility.
Furthermore, the developer seems to have gone otherwise dormant - with major work still being required to get this component to work properly in supported systems or work at all in Joomla 2.5. Forum posts languish for days and weeks without any answer.
I cannot recommend this component at this time. Fix the 2.5 incompatibility at the very least!

That's not to say there isn't room for improvement, particularly in the CAPTCHA (commercial versions only), which is not very configurable.
It would also be nice if you could easily change the dates of created newsletters. That feature would be particularly helpful for designers putting older content into a new site design, or even into an existing site with AcyMailing setup for the first time.
It looks like the developer is regularly updating this component, and I look forward to advances down the line!

The captcha has been recently added to AcyMailing and you can already:
-> set its size
-> set the number of characters you want to display in it
-> specify a list of characters AcyMailing will use (so you can limit it to only numbers for example)
-> configure the background-colour
-> configure the text colour
