Kunena
The only thing that makes this extension noteworthy is its integration capabilities with Joomla and various other 3rd party extensions. Other than that, there are far better forum software packages out there. IMO, the Kunena Team (less Sozzled) is far too “big-headed” regarding the success of their product and does not take well to suggestions or criticism - and if you have a problem or expose a bug, it’s always your fault. In that regard, it’s like dealing with a utility company as they know they have the monopoly on Joomla! (v.1.6+) Forum software. What Joomla! needs more than Kunena is a viable competitor to help keep their heads out of the clouds.

FeedGator
This extension has received little attention from the developer for almost 2 years. The developer publicly acknowledges it is not high on his priorities list despite being well aware of the many bugs and issues. Support and updated documentation is almost non-existent.

If you think this extension will do half of what it claims it will do, you're in for a disappointment. If used for simple feed imports (as the 5-star reviewers must be doing), it will work fine out of the box. But most of the advertised bells and whistles, most notably Yahoo Term Extraction (metatags) and those features that deal with setting filtering options when a feed it set to "Get Source Full Text", simply do not work.
