EasySQL for Joomla, if you without phpMyAdmin
This has been the single most useful extension I've installed on my site.

Whenever I'm developing, it's painful for me to maintain a phpMyAdmin page open alongside an admin page...it just IS...especially when you're running 2 different admin panels for 2 sites on the same database.

With this extension, I can query all the tables in the database across both sites - I can manually execute queries as well - to insert items, alter tables, etc.

On top of that, I'm sometimes behind a firewall that blocks port 8585 (which is what my phpMyAdmin runs out of on my web server) - so I don't get access to phpMyAdmin (painful, yes)...

With this extension, I don't need to. I can run everything simply and efficiently, all from the comfort of my Joomla! Admin console.

Export Content
This has made my life SO much easier. It installs and runs in an easy to use, straightforward manner.

Now, the one problem is, I have a content database with more than 30,000 items. Most of you out there probably don't have something QUITE that large, so this extension will work just fine for you.

For the larger sites - you'll need to export your content piece by piece (I had to export by category to get small enough chunks to extract).

Then to insert them in the new site, I've been having to insert by content item, not by section or category (long story, and my fault on that one) - Even so, if I try to insert ALL the content items from a category (say more than 1000 items each), it tends to time out before getting them inserted, so I've been inserting 100 rows at a time (which is painful).

Aside from that, it's a wonderful and VERY easy to use tool...

...Maybe I shouldn't have such a large site...?

mtwMigrator
I have had no problem with this extension - (I used the latest version 0.1.1).

It's a little slow and underpowered for moving content (I need to move more than 30,000 items, however. There's NOTHING that's not slow). It also doesn't let you select items to migrate or where to migrate them to (e.g. Move content from Section A, Category B on the old site to Section D, Category E on the new site) - So I would recommend NOT setting up that information on the new site before migration. Migrate first, re-hash it later.

If you're looking for a BULK migration tool...this is it.

Just install it on the NEW site, configure it (e.g point it at the OLD site database/tables - it will move the items into the NEW site tables), and away you go.

It flawlessly migrated my entire user database from Joomla! 1.0 to 1.5. I'm running BOTH versions out of one database, and it moved the data no problem - without corrupting the data on the original site.

Excellent, excellent, excellent!
