WOW, I'd suggest staying away from this one... right out of the box I get a clumsy SQL error, which to me is representational as to how buggy the rest of the code will be:

SQL Error DB function failed with error number 1067
Invalid default value for 'checked_out_time'
`checked_out_time` int(11) NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00'

Ouch, now that's one clumsily configured table....

I think this is great if it meets your immediate needs. Orverall though, I'd love it if this extension were improved and expanded.

As is, you can limit the site's search functions to specific sections. Cool. But you won't be able to create different types of searches (i.e. one search for 'category1' and a separate search for 'category2')

If it weren't for that drawback I'd be able to use this on my site...

I installed this bot and was very excited to see the features and how configurable it was( version 1.1.5). Looked very promising.

Unfortunately I was quite disappointed to discover that the code was written with the registered global $_SESSION. Naturally, I disable registered globals for my site for security purposes.

Surprisingly I don't see anyone else on their forums discussing this, and can't seem to find any topics on it. If this plugin didn't rely on registered globals I would be very interested.

This bot works fine with registered globals off!!!

Please research the $_SESSION array and what register globals actually does before posting negative reviews.

pollXT
The back end and functionality of this component is fabulous. There are many great features and it truly is as it's the standard joomla poll component on steroids.

HOWEVER. Sadly, due to poor html formatting of the modules for the front end, it is an absolute nightmare trying to customize the look of the polls through css. I was really disappointed to see numbers of non-semantic table techniques being used in the html.php file. I've been pulling my hair out and modding this extension, but it's quite an annoyance to have to do when it could have been done right in the first place. Due to this utter draw back I have to vote a fair, otherwise would be excellent.
