CiviCRM Membership Authentication and ACL
I had high hopes for this plugin. However, I've been unable to get it to work at all w/ J! 2.5. Properly entered, current users are denied access. I've posted in the forums but haven't been able to get any response. I'm hoping this problem will be addressed soon.

MobiRate
I'm trying this out for a membership site. This extension was MUCH more straight-forward to install and put to use than another highly rated comments extension I gave up on. A few small enhancements would make it even better: flexible comment size limit (mentioned before); a touch more labeling, something like "Rate this" would be good; the greyed out stars 'til a rating is entered don't show up well on a white background; finally, being able to configure the location above or below the article would be good. Overall just about perfect for my current wants.

SimpleCalendar
This has been just the calendar for my sites. It provides maps and contact links. It is well thought out & looks good. I frankly find the grid-style calendars available to be restrictive, ugly and annoying for periodic events so the list style here is great.

Now if only it were available for 1.6+. Due to security issues, I'm having to upgrade my sites to 1.7 and there are just no calendars available that work like this one does.
Owner's reply

I started working on a J1.6+ version last week but it seems that the change isn't a smooth one and will need much work. It's in the pipeline, though - follow the website to keep up to date with all the news

Easy Subscription
This simple component is quite straight forward to use. Installation is a snap. It lacks a few of the bells and whistles of the more expensive competitors but my needs were relatively simple.

The manual handling capabilities were very attractive.

The show stopper for me, however, was the inability to set subscription lengths longer than a year in the demo version. (Authors: if this is not the case for the production version, please reply to set the record straight.)
