I wanted to copy some articles from our old site to a new joomla 1.5 test site. I was very disappointed. Basically the content of the articles didn't get imported correctly. The images saved was the whole of /images & the list of images consisted of one image instead of all those present in the articles.
I spent a whole afternoon trying various permutations thinking that I was doing something wrong when clearly it wasn't.
I really did wish this would work. While I am happy to manually unload/reload database tables (this is what I had planned on doing before finding this component) a simple menu-driven tool for inexperienced users would be nice.
I suspect the problems that I had are due to some PHP/MySQL version mismatch with this component but as their are no System Requirements or any documentation as such it's difficult to know.
I'm sorry to hear you had problems.
But as you did not post on the support forum I was unable to help or to try to find the error that may be causing the issue.
Migrating to the live site went very smoothly except that reloading the database choked complaining of a duplicate entry. It turned out that we had a corrupt entry in one of the MySQL tables & nothing to do with JoomlaPack at all. Once this was deleted the restore proceded without incident.
I would thoroughly recommend JoomlaPack to anyone who is looking for a backup or migration solution for Joomla. We are promised automated scheduled backups in a future version which will make a great component even better.
