The Joomla! Extensions Directory ™

I have been running jevents for a couple years. Not a fancy events calendar but very functional and worked well.
Then I upgraded my site to joomla 1.5.8. Jevent never worked. I definately is not running in native mode as the button suggests.

Requests for help, in the forums went unanswered. So, I gave up and moved to jcal, and never looked back. I have better things to do than try and get a simple calendar working.

JCal Pro
After fighting with jevent, since my upgrade to 1.5, I switched to jcal pro. I was up and runnning within 15 minutes. Simple easy and it works.
I would like to see more than 1 theme included but for $20 I am glad I have calendar that works right.

keep it simple ... that's our mantra but it's tough sometimes with such a complicated, powerful application. Glad you had a smooth transition.

Phoca Gallery
I have looked at a lot of galleries. This is hands down the best. It is easy to install. The parameters can be a little tricky but the documentation is great, the forum has lots of answers. It is clean, fast, good looking, and theme driven.

To get started you can ftp your images and choose add multiple from the control panel and voom the subcategories are created and the thumbnails. No more bringing them up 5 or 10 at a time. I loaded over 500 images in less than 15 minutes.

Then you get a random image module that links directly to the gallery. No more having to keep images in 2 locations, 1 for the random image, and then in your gallery.

It also has an add on slideshow plugin so you can put slide shows in content or on a page directly from any category.

It is all well written. This is the gallery you should start with and prevent yourself a lot of headaches. Seemless integration into my theme and joomla. Great all the way around.
