I had been using Ninja RSS, but due to NinjaRss inability to create feeds from extensions (it only does articles) we decided to try RSSALL which supported ListBingo which is what we needed.

It installed easily and worked instantly. Didn't need to tweak anything to make it work on the default settings.

That is a good thing, because the settings options are very basic and don't allow you to customize much.

You can't control whether the output is atom or rss or the version of rss.

Several of the major rss syndicates would not accept the RSSALL feed as compliant. Ping.fm and RSS Graffiti being two of them. This made it difficult to send the feed into our Facebook Page and our Twitter Page

We do have it working, we are happy with it, it could be better.. but its the best one out there right now I think.
SectionEx
I like the Table of Contents to list all the categories in the Section (sections) and a count of how many articles are in each section..

I dislike that even if an article is unpublished in the back end, SectionEX still displays the title and a link in the list.

I dislike that you can't list all articles alphabetically or by date order without regard for category.. I wanted to list all articles in a section.. which is what I expected this extension to do.. instead, it still groups them by Category..

EasyBlog
If it used the jos_content tables, instead of separate table.

I liked the easyblog component, it works very well, but it doesn't use the standard Joomla Section/Category jos_content tables, which makes it very clunky.

You can't easily link between articles and blog posts, the image manager function doesn't work the same way..

Its almost like a completely separate website.. if you do everything through easyblog, you'll be find, but if you are trying to mix the two, its a nightmare.

Hey,

Thank you for your feedbacks and I greatly appreciate your concerns. I have to agree that we don't actually use Joomla tables for storage but it could eventually pose a larger problem having it stored in Joomla's article / category or section tables since there is really no way of manipulating the links in Joomla.

We do actually have a built in article linking between EasyBlog blogs and also Joomla articles. It allows you to search and link articles in EasyBlog easily.

Again, I really appreciate your feedbacks and we will definitely look into a separate storage option.

JoomShopping
This has all the power of Virtuemart, the ease of RokCart.

Installs easy, documentation is good, we had the shop up and running in under 15 minutes...

Loaded and configuring with 100 items in under a day.

June Scratch Card
This is a very cool little module that offers up a ton of potential to the store looking to that little bit extra to create impulse buys.

This module worked right out of the box, everything installed like it should, all the documentation on the developers website was spot on.

We did run into a problem with a conflict between our template and the jquery this module uses which resulted in the scratch off square off square not being placed directly over the image. It was off by about 10 to 15 pixels.. Haven't been able to fix it, so we just positioned the coupon code so that it is still hidden and rolled with it.

Might work fine in your template.

JFacebook by MMI
This extension does everything promised. I am not an advanced coding person and Cameron took the time to help me get this working and even showed me how to use some added Facebook features which I didn't even realize I could us. Five Stars without hesitation.

News Highlighter GK4
I rated this extension as just average because it doesn't support K2. Now, that wouldn't be an issue, except that they include it in their K2 native templates. Why would you include a news display module in a template designed for K2 that didn't work with K2 ? If you have a non-K2 template, I think you'll like this extension.

HikaShop
This is a horrible product, completely un-intuitive, I can't even figure out how to make it show a product or a category of products. I am successfully using JomSocial, Mighty Extensions, PhocaGallery and Chronoforms. I manage Joomla websites for 50 URL's, I'm pretty good at Joomla and I have no idea how to make this extension work. I've read and re-read the documentation, searched the forum to no avail. I can't recommend this extension.

Hi,

Displaying a product on the front end is as easy as publishing a joomla menu:

It's too bad you didn't ask us on our forum, we would have answered your questions.

Store for K2
How does a person/company release an "non-commercial" extension, which you can't actually use unless you purchase something ?

If you are thinking about downloading this extension, consider this your fair warning. Although they claim that this is an FREE, Non-Commercial e-commerce extension, its actually just a bait-and-switch/trick-a-roo to get you to invest a lot of time into setting it up only to discover that you can't actually use it unless you purchase a payment plug-in. They do not mention this in the script description nor on their website, making it look like it really is GPL open source.

Its really quite sad, because the extension works very well (at least up and until you try and actually purchase something) when you discover you need the playment plug-in.

I don't know if it actually works, hence I can not rate it any higher then a 2.
Owner's reply

Thank you for the review.

1. It is a free extension. We need to have a some form of revenue to keep its development going on. So we have to sell the Payment Plugins.

Besides, many users do not want a payment integration. Plus we are not collecting huge amount. Just USD 10 for the plugin.

2. GPL does not mean that everything is free. Please have a look at the GPL licence at its website.

3. You do not need a lot of time to set up. You can get this add on up and running in just a few minutes.

4. It is clearly mentioned in the website that you can buy a payment plugin. It is not mandatory, however. All Plugins are GPL licenced.

Mini Ad Spot
This could be a really great extension, but the system has so many flaws. First, its not a hands-off ad system. There is no way for a front end user to sign up, upload their ad and manage their ad. Without that the system is severely limited. Secondly, the process on the admin-side of loading and managing ads is very old school. Cutting edge in 2006 maybe, but in 2011, it feels like Windows 95.
Owner's reply

The frontend was not designed to allow users to upload their ads, to keep your site secure and under control.

In the admin side you can control the details for each ad. You're welcome to suggest another coding approach, using our forums.

Thank you!

Enhanced Weblinks
A decent weblinks component/module is badly needed for Joomla. The core weblinks is horrible, so I was excited about trying this out.

This isn't much better.

It is not very pretty, you can't upload images on the back side, it doesn't autoscale images on the front side, it doesn't work with SH404SEF, it doesn't display short descriptions, you have pick out category images or you'll get an image not found error, you have to input category descriptions or you'll see [cat_desc] displayed on front page..

Basically, it is the core Joomla weblinks with the ability to link a logo to it.

Installed, spent 10 minutes configuring it, created 3 categories and 3 links in each category, saw how bad it looked, uninstalled.
Owner's reply

Hi, Thank you for your comment.

Actually, The core function of this component/module is to provide the ability to put the logo for link as you mentioned cause I got this trouble last year when I coded a Joomla website, So I think it is a problem which other designers or developers are facing now, it is the most important reason why I would like to release it for the public in here.

For further functions, I will keep improving it and also hope you guys tell me by email or leaving comments if get any errors or bugs.

Power Mail
I have written good reviews and I have written bad reviews.. but I was completely torn as to whether or not to write this review, because I'd like to keep this Extension my little secret !!

If you are a content management site and post a lot of news or get news from a lot of sources, this is the best extension I have ever seen.

This has made my life as a publisher so much better, I can't hardly even put in words.

Great Job Stan.. Great Job.

GNSG - Google News Sitemap Generator
This is a great little share for those folks using Joomla as a CMS for a local newspaper and needing something to meet Google News Sitemap Requirements.

Upon my first install, the extension didn't work properly, but Andrea quickly emailed me and he made a couple of quick revisions to the Component and it works great now.

Documentation is good, the support was very good. I'm completely happy and gives this a thumbs up.

Random Anything
This module worked perfect for me. I wanted to display a random video out of a group that I wanted to control. Using the AllVideoReloaded Plug-In and the RandomAnything Module, I got exactly what I wanted.

GuardXT
Installed like a breeze, did exactly what it was suppose to do. Right off the top let me know that J!1.5.9 was out, which I hadn't noticed yet. It linked me right to the download page so I didn't have to surf around looking for the update. The 3rd party component checking device doesn't list what the most current version is, but it does link what version I have and provide a link to the developers home page, making updating much easier. The checks of the file system and joomla core system pointed out permission errors and security enhancements I could make (and did). This is probably the best COM I've downloaded in 6 months.

LastVBF
I can't believe that this isn't a more popular module.

If you have vBulletin, you gotta have this module to drive traffic into your forums.

Joo!BB
This forum looks like it has some real potential.

A fully integrated forum for Joomla.. no bridges, no wraps, just install and run.

It needs to be dressed up and made pretty.. but it seems to work fantastic.

AdsManager
The set up is easy, the roll out is easy. There is no method to edit the layout, my template needs a way to set the module suffix code and the module doesn't even offer this parameter variable.
