I had to post a question to the support forum (by the way, the response time was super fast), but it turned out the problem was just my lack of knowledge.
I thought users of a group are restricted but it's the other way around. Users are privileged if that group belongs to e.g. editing of a certain section, category, article.
The plugin is easy configurable using UI in the back-end.
