RSform!
This was easy to install and use. It produces an attractive, professional output. However, we read online that the included captcha was fairly easy to hack. We use Recaptcha usually but found that the plugin only worked for the Pro version. We need the extra layer of security so unfortunately lack of Recaptcha capability in the free version is a deal breaker.

J4VN Tags K2
This extension is listed in English, yet I do not see any English support as most of the site is in Vietnamese. When I translated it, I found that sending messages is disabled.

I installed it, it seems to work, but I do not see where or how to use it in a K2 item. And I don't see how to find out. Uninstalling.

CQI - CustomQuickIcons
Worked great on our Joomla 1.5 site straight out of the box.

The primary question we are asking is, why didn't we think of this before? It is a time-saver.

WDC Periodic Advertisement Pop up
It worked right out of the box and displays correctly.

It would be nicer to have the option to either leave out the developer's link, or at least to list it only in the code.

FeedGator
We have used FeedGator in its previous incarnations on other websites and do were excited to use it again. It installed fine, imported most feeds right away without issue. There was a small error on one of the feeds but this was easily rectified.

The reason we won't give 5 stars is that we feel strongly that customer service should also matter. Altho this is a free component right now, we are effectively testing it for free and providing feedback that will help the developer. Our experience on the forum was met with untimeliness, rudeness (from another board member) and more complaining. We pay for many components but the attitude we got is that we wanted it all for free, would never pay for anything anyway and were in fact inept. Unacceptable.

Overall, we would recommend FeedGator as a good Joomla addition. Order it without a side of rude and it will enhance your site.

Simple Page Options
Worked well with no installation or set-up problems.

Would like the option to include the Sharing functions as text links instead of as the pop-up bar with icons. As we only want to add the Facebook and Twitter options, it would be nice to have it look like:

Add Site to Favorites
Add Page to Favorites
Make Homepage
Tweet This
Email This Page
Print This Page
Save Page as PDF

Very basic module that simply lists the articles from a particular section in whatever position you place it on your site.

You need to get the Section ID first (Content > Section Manager > ID) and put that in.

Would be nice to have the option of including the Article Summary also. I have a section masquerading as a blog and in an effort to separate the blog entries from the regular content articles, thought it would be nice to separate them on the front page. This works simply to list the blog entry titles, but no summaries, dates etc.

Very good tutorial.

CK Forms
I don't know if I am using a newer version, but I didn't seem to have any of the issues posted by other reviewers regarding renaming database tables. Or perhaps I have just not come across that problem yet!

Installed with no problem. Worked well, very simple and straightforward. Very much unlike other form components that I have used that were confusing with tables and connections etc. I have so many other aspects of my Joomla sites to worry about that I really don't want to spend time on a form component that I will use to set up a form one time and then barely use again. This component rocks for what it is supposed to do - nothing too fancy, very simple out of the box, no steep learning curve.

It would be great if it included some default values such a Country and State drop-down list, and maybe a start-up sample basic form. But for a free component, it's the best I have tried so far.

Sobi2
I have used SOBI and have always been satisfied with this great free product. Now that we are using Joomla 1.5 and are upgraded to SOBI2, it is great to see that this component works well from the start. The only thing keeping this from being an "Excellent" rating is the fact that several plugins offered on the site appear to be buggy, but not impossible to use. Maybe the paid downloads will work better... and SOBI2 is worth a donation.

Akeeba Backup
I installed JoomlaPack 1.1.1. which did not work correctly, giving an error message from the start. However, the support forum moderator was very helpful, giving me a new file a "development snapshot release, functionally equivalent to 1.2a2". This installed perfectly and worked correctly on the first try. So far the component is a winner and the support team is one of the best I have come across so far.
