yamada
Its basically an iframe in a module.
But thats not all,the width is fixed on 576px.
The information it shows is not that great and it gives you the idea that the mod is made to send people over the the creators website to start handling stocks.
And if that isnt enough, the mod includes a invincible extra "meta name=keywords" tag that will show before your closing body tag!
Yes with over 20 keywords ,naturally with a bunch of the creators website.
Thats what i call junk.
I tried it with almost 59000 links in one category and that wil drop your mosets admin area.
It takes upto 30 seconds to even show the admin page and the frontend is just as bad.
the links added have title,a few lines description and weblink, thats it.
On a test i did while going to my mosets admin page this is what my server showed:
Server Load 1.91 (4 cpus) (before request)
Server Load 5.16 (4 cpus) (during request)
Its also to bad it takes so long to release a native version.
However,its good for smaller sites.
We have quite a number of users running large directories without the said performance issue. 30 seconds to load a page is not normal. If you can get in touch with me at http://www.mosets.com/contact/, I'll see to it to get this resolved.
it hides but it doesnt show any text like "to see the following bla bla bla you need to login".
but now nothing shows..
amazing that they forgot about this..
..... that's what the {pub}{/pub} tags are for! You need to replace the text that's hidden with whatever should display for non-logged-in users... amazing that you overlooked this.
When you have a full website and your not planning to add any more content then this tag thing gives you the feeling you have to start over again.
nobody in his right mind would edit 478 content pages in order to add some tags.
but i gave it a try.
Uninstalling wasnt easy as well.
the plugin failed and trashed my site as i use gzip and that somehow was a problem..
On joomla 1.5.7 ,latest CB
Core registration is disabled in config.
But when i go to :index.php?option=com_registration&task=register i get 403 forbidden which isnt dont by this plugin..and when i go to index.php?option=com_registration , i can still use the registration.
First of all, what interests me in your review is "when i go to index.php?option=com_registration , i can still use the registration." this means plugin is either disabled (aka not enabled) or misconfigured. Both issues are easy to resolve, you can ask your questions in the project forum.
Regards
But this doesnt work.
The author uses CB himself but you can also register there with :index.php?option=com_registration&task=register
i tried it serveral times but redirect doesnt do anything.
I am not using Joomla 1.5 on that web site. Please test before evaluating. That site is on Joomla 1.0.x
great addition for sites who offer music related things...
small request i would have is the possibility to change the text it shows after a search, thats put into the files and would have been nice if that would be editable...
good job.
I realy fail to see what extra value this offers compared to other components that deal with video in general.
It surely has its limitations.
And when i saw what it costs to use it in full i always had a heart attack.
I'm sorry you didn't see the benefits of our system, we definitely haven't been doing the best job of explaining what really does set us apart from everybody else. We'll work to make that more clear on our site.
Our component and service is currently completely free. The only time somebody would have to pay is if they want the player to be branded with their own logo or they are getting over 10 gigabytes per month of traffic.
Make no mistake, this is a beta product right now. If you don't like something about our product in it's current state, mention it on our support forum. We have a full team dedicated to this and your request will probably be addressed sooner than you think.
looks good and could be popular, but im missing a few things.
there's no edit function.
there's no sub cat creation.
with guest writing on,captcha didnt show.
also weird is,that when creating a menu link it shows a captcha as being a choice which makes no sense.
you can leave out all the general crap we see on most forums, but some standard stuff should be included.
nice work...do continue.
Thanks for the feedback. A donor to the project recently funded an edit functionality that I will be integrating into the main build soon. There seems to be a lot of confusion over the CAPTCHA support since both the Plugin must be enabled and the CAPTCHA support within the forum must be enabled - I will try to make those directions more clear in the future releases.
I have a few websites with a gallery but with my mnew joomla 1.5.x versions not much seems to be supported or they are way behind development.
Then i found phoca gallery.
What i like about it is its simplicity to configure your albums.
The simple update feature is great and support by Jan is top.
Impressed but as it shows added 7 may why no new 1.5.x version ?
Releasing this for older joomla doesnt realy motivates people to upgrade..
Yamada, I hoe you mean "fun" and not funny :) We just announced Rapid Forum for 1.5 began development today.
it may look nice but then you have to rely on a remote source and thats something i dont like.
If we didnt do it this way, it wouldn't be kept so up-to-date (every 5 minutes).
i tried to install it for a friend on a 1.5.3 and willing to use it with legacy.
but it wouldnt install.
all i got was errors saying i have to make my root writable and some admin folder as well.
huh..?..not in a million years.
With joomla's 1.5 i was happy that we didnt have to touch the folders anymore, which is safer.
But docman goes his own way,and thats the wrong way.
installed another component instead.
DOCman does indeed ask you to make your root writable to be able to add the dmdocuments folder. Once the folder has been created you can revert your permissions back.
