Joomulus ModuleLanguage

Joomulus is a flash based tag cloud for Joomla

At the Advanced Parameters you manually enter your desired Tag, Link and Font Size

The module creates a tag cloud in flash - and also a search engine friendly tag cloud that Google and other engines can index - the SEO tag cloud only shows to your users if they do not have flash installed.

New version of Joomulus released 12 May 2009, fixes previous issues with IE6 and provides a simpler, yet very powerful workflow.

Greek characters are now enabled in the tag cloud.

Joomulus is based on Roy Tanck's wp-cumulus http://www.roytanck.com, a wonderful Wordpress 3D flash tag cloud plug-in.

Really useful and makes sites more attractive. As well supports non-latin based languages out of the box. One thing to be desired is the posiibility of assigning different colours for tags.

This rhing looks cool. I Had a problem with the xhtml validation after installing this, but found the solution on their forum. Other than that it worked straight out of the box. It was quick to install and configure.
I thought this is a real tagcloud module which can automatically extract tags from articles. But, this can ONLY show manually defined tags.

What is more, this module can't show up Chinese characters. I added several Chinese language tags in the Advanced Parameters, but the frontend module still ONLY shows the default English tags.

Why NOT just show the tag name As Is what I had input there?

This is a great out-of-the box nifty module that will bring some non-annoying enlightenment to your site.

Two items I see as improvement:

1) Make it SEO friendly
2) Offer the option to open the links in a lightbox and not just same or new window

Congratulations, really cool and very interesting interactive module to entertain the visitor. Easy to install and working ok here under IE8 and FF3. I'd like just to leave a few suggestions for a future version:
1) Maybe we would have a checkbox to opt to the text keep moving/rotating/flying non-stop (infinitely) or when mousing over;
2) Get to set a new color for the text after clicking;
3) Nowadays the text comes fading from the text color1, maybe it would be cool to have a color3 to set when the text hits the 100% foreground, it changes/use this color.
That's all.
Congratulations for the amazing module and thanks for sharing it.
Hi,

I've made my upgrade without reading the post because I was happy to see that there was a new version. But the surprise is that this version lost the self search engine with articles tags and now we just can fix a tag with an URL's.
I hope you wonder about a future version who can do as the same of the last legacy one.

The latest version seems to be solving also the problems of integration with sh404SEF. So it is very, very nice module!
This extension is attractive and is easy enough to install; however, there were a couple of problems with the output.

1. If there is a "tag" that is a hyphenated word, the extension separates the words instead of keeping them together. For example, on the site I tested, ancient-future (1 word) was divided into 2 words . . . quite a different concept.

2. Somehow the loading of this module on the page knocked out one of my css styles on the rest of the page. When the module is enabled, the style is gone. When the module is disabled, the style is ok.

For your situation, you may not run into either of these problems, so in that case, I would recommend it.

Not too sure whats going with some styles being over ridden by Joomulus, I'd have to take a look at the site to give you an answer.

Not sure which version you are using but you may want to try the most recent release. I tested ancient-future and worked fine. If there are any issues with this please let me know and I'll try and resolve them.

Great looking module, and very simple with the install and setup. In comparison to a couple others I have installed and then dumped because they don't do what they say on the lid.

However, one small bug, it appears that this tag module picks up on part words, for example, it shows 'lish' from the words of 'english and relish' and also 'ceive' from the word 'receive'. Though, I have been able to stop this by adding these instances to the blacklist.

I had a few issues with reinstalling Joomulus. The support from joomlabear.com, specifically Lachlan, was not only helpful but the replies to my concerns were fast too.

Thank you again for all your help!
Very nice, but it will load your site with hundreds of lines of bad xhtml and php errors if reporting is on. Le Condor has supplied a complete fix with a few improvements:

It is wonderful!

but it gives an error when I open the site with ie7.
However it works normal with Firefox.
When you solve this point, it is excellent!

I would give this extension five stars if it did not have sooooo many mis-spelled words. I get a lot of them and it makes no sense, the original words are not mis-spelled and it searches perfectly, but in the cloud itself they show as mis-spelled. This really needs to be fixed, it sort of defeats it own purpose.

I have an observation to make: it does not support UTF-8 like Joomla 1.5 standards, that is why French charset generates bad search keywords.

A good idea would be to make this component support all UTF or create a similar function as all SEF extensions have Character Replacement List.

Feature Request:
Create a white list capability, so when click all keywords should be routed to
/index.php?searchword=keyword&searchphrase=exact&limit=&ordering=popular&view=search&Itemid=getitemid&option=com_search

Keep up the great work

It is completely customizable and its easy. All I had to do was install it, create a new module, then bam! There you have it.
byiosoft on November 29, 2008
This Module is not yet ready for production site.

The FLASH Object is created by a 3rd-party.
But the main problem is that the created TAGs have 'spelling errors'

Like -
SYSTEM->SYSTEMK
AMD and ANNOUNCE -> AMDNOUNCE
VALVE -> VALVED
AUCTION -> AUCTIOND

(both in J1.0.x and J1.x platform)

I WILL change my review when new version with fix comes out.

and this BUG yet not fixed even after 2 weeks !!
Owner's reply

I'll be looking into the cause of this. I've been out working on a contract for two weeks! Sorry the support doesn't meet your standards.
