I have been using Tag in my Joomla 1.5 site for over a year and was satisfied with it. My only real complaint is that I cannot control color scheme of tag cloud to match my site's design. Despite this, I have over 4,000 Tag terms and over 5,000 articles so I was hoping to continue using it in 1.7. Unfortunately there has been no progress on this project and it seems that the 1.6/1.7-compatible tag/cloud extensions rely on meta keywords. I was not using my meta keywords so I found (much thanks to another poster on the Tag forum) a solution using SQL to add Tag terms as metakeys that will migrate to 1.6/1.7 with the article content. I posted the solution in the Tag forums.

ALthough this component rocks, it has not been updated since 2010 summer!
It does not workd with framework templated, and also it does not work well with Jot Cache and JCH Optimize.

Project was abandoned by the author long time ago. It does not work with at least the 2 latest Joomla versions, you will find bugs trying to edit tags or It just won't let you save them.
Use it only if you are using an old joomla version and you are not using joomfish... if not try other solutions.

The Tag extension turned out to be just the right solution for my site. I was able to quickly create tags, tag my articles and create a menu item that displayed only articles marked with that specific tag. Bonus points for providing a tag 'term and description' that shows up at the top of the page automatically. Makes a great page head/subhead to describe the contents of the rest of the page. Thanks!
IT is so adamant in the CSS. I have changed the complete CSS. it shows the difference but as i click any tag, It goes back to it same ugly colors. My file permissions are good. and i have a VPS so i control everything. i know that there is some serious issue which one needs to be investigate. Unfortunately i dont have time for the same. I think it is very crucial for CSS to be changed as per the site design. If you want to compromise on design of your Joomla then go for it. I would give 5 stars only if author fix this issue. Awaiting the reply. If you see no response to this review by author even after months, then please dont go for it.
Man, this is just a super awesome extension! When I design in Drupal, I really love having Taxonomy. THis is one thing that Joonla! lacks, which should be in core.
"Tags" fills that void, and does so in absolutely perfect fashion. It installs in a snap, configures easy, has many options under the hood, does an excellent job...... and IS FREE!
What you get in this extension is what one would expect from a paid commercial extension. In fact, this is MUCH better than most commercial tag extensions I worked with.
Many thanks, and a big kudos to the developer. It's just a phenomenal extension. And Joonla! should take notice and consider integrating it into core for 1.6. Why would anyone have a site without tags/taxonomy???

Many functions of component not working:
1.At page of all tags by high number of tags in website limit not work well - result is error 500
2.automatic adding of tag from keywords not work when adding article

Great but the Tag Manager lacks of flexibility.
Having a lot of articles and for that matter, many pages to edit, I hate being redirected to the first page after saving my 15th.
Also some tags re-ordering I can't explain and letters stripping like '&'...
But it's a nice tool though.

1.3.1 released May 11 2010 does not work. Fatal error for me and many others on joomla 1.5.17. I (and many others) notified joomlatags.org developer in the bug report forum but there has been no response so far.
I recommend that others hold off on this new release until the developer at least responds.
