Every property becomes a searchable field in the frontend module cp_search. It can be used to organize and re-organize your contents and to create new ways of searching articles.
With the recently added module mod_cpcloud, all tags can be displayed as tags cloud.
The tags can be displayed before, after or anywhere in the middle of articles.
CP Tags can be searched by means of standard Joomla search feature (J15 only).
Features:
- infinite field / values
- configurable and skinnable
- does NOT alter the default Joomla! installation
- simple-yet-powerful
- compatible with Joom!Fish for multi-language sites
- includes English,Italian,Arabic language for frontend (only ver 0.97)
- limit search results
- each field can be displayed in all/some/one search module
- added support for frontend tagging operations.
- a drill-down result summary can be displayed before actual results.
- results can be sorted by section/category
- usability improvements in the backend
- cp tags can be appended to meta keywords too
- SEF compatible
- version for Joomla 1.5 is built using the new MVC framefork.
- multi search module
- configurable search scope
- tags cloud module
The new version - available for J1.0 and for J1.5 - introduces new , almost unique, features:
- tag third party content elements via plugins. BookLibray and Docman installed as defaults
- much improved tagging from the frontend
- tag in page title
- image thumbnails in search results
- selectable search results format: HTML introtext, plain text, only title
- selectable module layout : tables or divs
- core SEF compatible
- sh404SEF compatible
- installer for easy install / upgrade
- more languages : Russian, Swedish, Greek, ...
Current versions :
Joomla 1.0 (>= 1.0.11) : 0.98
Joomla 1.5 (= 1.5.23 is better) : 1.98.3.4
BTW: most of the requested features (or lack thereof) have been added in version 1.98. It's been quite an effort so feel free to donate :)
- version 1.98.3 fixes some issues with thumbnail creation.
- version 1.98.3.3 fixes the infamous 'timezone' bug the
prevented newly created articles to be retrieved for some hours.
- version 1.98.3.4 fixes a small bug with 'page title' and is PHP 5.3 compliant

This is an excellent component. It makes it dead simple to add unlimited additional tags to your Articles and create a search module to search them. The results are output in a blog style with clickable links to the tags.
Very easy to use, and produces excellent results.

It's a nice and flexible extension for tagging. However not enough for which tags are include special languge chars for example Turkish İıçğüşö chars. If you are using theese chars, this is not appropriate for searching or listing search engines. Because of it will be generated address like your writed shown label, and actually address is not like it.
For example:
Value: Öğretmen Hakları (convert to retmen_haklar)
Label: Öğretmen Hakları
View in article label: Öğretmen Hakları
Viewing Address: ....../tag/field-Öğretmen Hakları.html
Also address is actually readable by robots:
......../tag/field-%C3%96%C4%9Fretmen%20Haklar%C4%B1.html
CP will best of tagging extension, if use transliteration for covert labels to sef addresses.

This is one of my favorite joomla extensions of all time. What would I do without this component? Go back to using sections and categories? Forget that! This is one of those components that really should be built into joomla, makes searches much more accurate. Now all we need is a search by author and time integrated into this ;-)
Thanks for submitting this, this changed the structure of my site.
Cheers Josh Lewis.

Very impressed with this extension, which brings functionality that you'd expect Joomla! to have out of the box, and does it to a high standard with professional finish.
You can't ask for a better way to give authors the tools to finely categorise their articles. So often an article fits into more than one category, so this is really a must. Being able to choose between listbox, checkboxes etc. for each property item in the editor is my favourite feature.
There are some gaps in the documentation online, but the built-in documentation is probably all most people will need, and is well-written and clear. The author is very helpful in answering questions too - and promises even greater things for the next version!

This is a wonderful component. Really what I was looking for.
The only thing it lacks is the ability that the admin allows "free tags".
Say that I want to specify a tag/field called "issue number", and I want the enter a number rather than having to choose from a list.
I know this means it moves from beings tags to fields, but such a great extension deserves to grow to include such things.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

I recently develop photoweb with hotlinked images from external hosting. CP fitted my advanced search need except that thumbnail never shown. It never shown on my hotlinked images website never on localhost. What could be the problem?
Andrea at solidsystem seem not to respond my last email about this problem, even after i've stated (just like Louis done) that i am willing to take it professionally.
CP is excellent. It fit my need & I really need this extension ASAP. It's quite frustating to have it this way.

Very nice component/module and plugins!
However, having upgraded to the latest SH404SEF, it stopped working and came up with
"Please make some selections"
after using the search module (which is not supported anyway).
Now got it to work with this setting in SH404SEF: in settings, by component, leave everything as is, but change the last column to "Use component or core plugin" and turn "Search Engine Friendly URLs" in Global Configuration ON!
That did the trick for me, hope it works for others too.

Hello,
it looks really good and what I needed but I have one problem.
I am creating new record in manage cp menu, then assigning articles and while I go to the front end and I try to click on tags in cloud I recieve:
"Please make some selections"
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to assign articles to more then 1 tag? I am trying with "List box (single selection)"
It looks really great so I hope I will go through this problem.

This is a great component/module and it's helped me a lot.
However, I cant seem to get the thumbnail to show up properly and I cant seem to find any documentations on this?
I went through the demo backend and frontend and I'm still stuck, can you please help? (I'm posting this here since I also cant find a forum where any questions could be addressed)
Thanks!

I am very content with custom properties. It is exactly what I needed to display multi category items. First, I encountered the problem described by marycs (500 error layout blog not found). But I have found a solution, and it works fine: just go to components/com_customproperties/views/show/tmpl/default.php, copy the file and rename it to blog.php, so now you have two php files. That´s it and should do! Oh, and thanks again to Andrea for the friendly support! 8-)
I rarely review extensions but felt I had to because this extension is powerful, easy to use and part of every site I build. I depend on it, literally.
I decided to try CP because I needed a way to categorize beyond the limited single level section/category that Joomla provides and tags came to mind. I tried almost every tag extension and hands-down, CP beat them all... that was a much older version too!
Furthermore, CP is more than a simple tagging solution, much more.
You can create simple but powerful ways to categorize, organize and help users zero-in on what they are looking for including tag clouds and simple or complex search options based on the tags with regular search... powerful.
I would pay for this extension and many of the extensions in this league are commercial and probably have to be because it takes lots of time to create. Never had any issue!
I have two questions for the author that I hope will be answered so here it goes...
Can we expect more development and additional features anytime soon?
Any chance of a Pro version? Yes paid, sorry freeloaders and no offense intended.
Some of us are dependent on this extension and I would like to see continued development and to inspire the author to push this extension further.
Maybe a free basic version and advanced Pro version with support to keep this great extension moving while leaving the other tag options further in the dust...
Much Success and Excellent Work
P.S. I use CP a lot and after reviewing rules for links, I might include one of my sites to show what you can do with it.
