Custom Properties

Every property becomes a searchable field in the frontend module cp_search. It can be used to organize and re-organize your contents and to create new ways of searching articles.
With the recently added module mod_cpcloud, all tags can be displayed as tags cloud.
The tags can be displayed before, after or anywhere in the middle of articles.
CP Tags can be searched by means of standard Joomla search feature (J15 only).
Features:
- infinite field / values
- configurable and skinnable
- does NOT alter the default Joomla! installation
- simple-yet-powerful
- compatible with Joom!Fish for multi-language sites
- includes English,Italian,Arabic language for frontend (only ver 0.97)
- limit search results
- each field can be displayed in all/some/one search module
- added support for frontend tagging operations.
- a drill-down result summary can be displayed before actual results.
- results can be sorted by section/category
- usability improvements in the backend
- cp tags can be appended to meta keywords too
- SEF compatible
- version for Joomla 1.5 is built using the new MVC framefork.
- multi search module
- configurable search scope
- tags cloud module
The new version - available for J1.0 and for J1.5 - introduces new , almost unique, features:

- much improved tagging from the frontend
- tag in page title
- image thumbnails in search results
- selectable search results format: HTML introtext, plain text, only title
- selectable module layout : tables or divs
- core SEF compatible
- sh404SEF compatible
- installer for easy install / upgrade
- more languages : Russian, Swedish, Greek, ...
Current versions :
Joomla 1.0 (>= 1.0.11) : 0.98
Joomla 1.5 (= 1.5.23 is better) : 1.98.3.4
BTW: most of the requested features (or lack thereof) have been added in version 1.98. It's been quite an effort so feel free to donate :)
- version 1.98.3 fixes some issues with thumbnail creation.
- version 1.98.3.3 fixes the infamous 'timezone' bug the
prevented newly created articles to be retrieved for some hours.
- version 1.98.3.4 fixes a small bug with 'page title' and is PHP 5.3 compliant

There's also very usefull additional plugins for publishing tags while submiting an article on front end and backend (carefull it includes a core hack).
Make a search on "Custom properties"
This tag system brings joomla sections/categories to a higher level...
1.90.2 haven't this problem.
Anyway I wote "Good" for a good component, I am sure this guy wil fix this issue.
Version 1.98 and later version are still able to work "the old way". Just select "TagID" instead of "TagName" in components configuration.
As per the the duplicate content, please read Google's words about the (non) issue:
http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/09/demystifying-duplicate-content-penalty.html
The component does what it says and does it very well. I can't believe joomla doesn't have a tag system like this.
And the support, I got all my replies blazing fast and by emails. How many developers you know that support you through emails?
For my wish list, I would like to be able to add tags in the article manager, or when I add an article it could be there just below the meta information. But this can take time :)
This is a must have component!
Only problem is that we are waiting with our breath held for the 1.5 version to be up to speed with the 1.0 version!! Would be nice if somebody killed the old Joomla 1.0 system so we could get on with the new 1.5 with 100% focus and not have to wade through components for version 1.0 and version 1.5
The component is regularly updated, and I can't wait to see the new features in 1.0 applied to 1.5!
A developer I will be donating to more than once for certain, thank you for all your hard work!
Cause of it's unique intent of catalogue and schedule I think the output of article properties items could be enhanced:
not only to point to search similar article properties, but also in a custom output, related to specific property, or in a resuming page, giving to the author the opportunity to show the global "properties map" development process inside his site.
At first I didn't understand how to assign a CP Field to a module, in order to have modules appearing on specific pages, so I mailed the author and was very pleased to get reply in less than 30 minutes.
Great for filtering articles, works perfectly!
Thanks for the review.
I share your opinion: the frontend tagging for Joomla 1.5 is at best disappointing, even in the rare cases when it works.
The feature has been completely reworked in the current version of CP for J1.0.
It will shortly be available for J1.5 too.
another topic is a the fast and furious support from solidsystem.
with "custom properties" you can a user edited site or a directory with any structure. forget a "section-category-article" - new custom properties joomla age is arise!
More over, I had a problem (actually it was not a problem since I misunderstood something) and I got a reply from those guys in 1 day! Not a bad response time for a free piece of code! In fact excellent response time!
What's more, I had problems displaying the search button on my site. I emailed Solidsystem and they looked at my site, identified the problem in the code and showed me where it was and how to fix it. Couldn't ask for better service!
Unfortunately I was having trouble getting it working. I sent an email to the developer and immediately went about trying to fix the problem myself (I installed the J1.0 component and it worked (better)). I got a quick reply (Saturday afternoon for me, late Saturday night it Italy - I am impressed). The problem was in my web hosting company using older PHP. I was given the reason and directions to fix the problem - now it works like a charm. You need to set a config option called "script position" to "embedded".
This component is great. I can configure it to address different product descriptions, price range, or any other parameter and create a search matrix applicable to specific categories. It is exactly what I needed for a site with lots of content.
Now, I'm hoping for the ability to create a search results page that compares parameter values. For example: display the results of: "wine region=campania / alcohol=medium / price=low" against "wine region=campania / alcohol=medium / price=high" as a split screen comparison chart where other details of the respective items are available to compare.
Thank you to SolidSystems for a fantastic component.
But having to go to another screen after having created the article, is not something I can ask my editors to do... so guess we will be staying with preformated keywords,,,
If custom properties could be assigned from article editor, or even a button on it, it would be perfect. Till then, not useful for me.
1) sh404sef comaptibillity (I saw it is on the way)
2) Xmap compatibility
3) frontend CREATION and addition of tags maybe through ajax
4) development of a module that displays several articles with the same tags. (with the first image)
Thank you again for the great tagging component this is so far the best! Keep up the good work!
