WebGuru's Google Analytics plugin is simply the most accurate and simple tool for tracking "true" visitors and traffic to your Joomla site with Google Analytics.
Up until now it was nearly impossible to NOT track your own visits on Google Analytics in Joomla. This posed a problem as your analytics data was diluted by visits by either you or your office folks. Now, you can measure "true" visitors to your site without recording yourself and your team.
This will prevent the Google Analytics coding from falsely inflating your pageviews, time on site, number of visitors, etc. You can even decide and set which level of users should be included in the Google Analytics tracking. To our knowledge, this is the first publicly available Google Analytics plugin that allows users to do this in Joomla.
This plugin for Joomla:
- Allows you the option to NOT track the admin area
- Allows you the option to NOT track Super Administrators (regardless of pages they visit as long as they are logged in)
- Allows you the option to NOT track Administrators (regardless of pages they visit as long as they are logged in)
- Allows you the option to NOT track Managers (regardless of pages they visit as long as they are logged in)
- Allows you the option to NOT track Publishers (regardless of pages they visit as long as they are logged in)
- Allows you the option to NOT track Editors (regardless of pages they visit as long as they are logged in)
- Allows you the option to NOT track Authors (regardless of pages they visit as long as they are logged in)
- Allows you the option to log 404 errors - What pages did visitors try to visit? You can find out if you are missing on serving possible visits attempts for specific URL's.
- Allows you the option to log searches on your site - Find out for what are your site visitors are looking.
- Allows you the option to log outgoing links from your site - How are your visitors leaving your site? On which links did they click?

FYI, the plugin does NOT pose any security issue as we know. The issue as reported by an end-user with Swekey is integration issue, not security. Furthermore, we could not replicate the issue on our end. Please feel free to email us and/or Swekey on this matter.

Installed no problems and appears to work great.
One side effect if enabled is it breaks RSS feeds, error message in RSS feed is "Only one top level element is allowed in an XML document". If plugin is disabled everythings works fine again, hope this helps others trackdown the problem quicker.

Thank you for the comment. As per the response 4/5 days ago, we will incorporate this for version 1.0 due to be launched in 2010.
Installation: Smoooooth ... No probs at all
As requested in the docs I just copy pasted the analytics code. Worked like a charm!
User: Great: Many options in the app that makes this app a MUST HAVE on your joomla site. Feats like log admins in visits, log authors, ... make it the ideal REAL TRAFFIC meassurement tool!

P.S. I encountered a little delay (24 hours) but this is not because of the app but because of the 24 hour delay with google.com/analytics. So if yoou don't get any reaction in the 24 hours, it's normal. I got it to :)

This is a very useful extension
I have Swekey ( http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-a-security/authentication-external/6444 ) installed and it conflicts with it
When I log into Joomla with Swekey enabled, it shows the Google Analytics Javascript in the log in box !
Will be contacting Swekey too but it looks to me a
security problem with this Guru extension.

This is NOT a security issue. It seems to be there is some sort of compatibility issue. Please make sure that you have the latest versions of your security key and Joomla. We were not able to replicate the issue.
