I had always problems with Joomla's automatic alias generation when saving an article. When I use a hungarian character in the title, certain fonts fail (are missing). You can correct it by hand of course but this is a hateful task. And I also often didn't realise/beheld this type of missing fonts thus it caused "mistyped" words in webpage URLs to be indexed by search engines (eg. Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.)
I'm very grateful to the authors. It is a very useful and nice extension as it is already habitual from Jan Pavelka (Phoca Extensions). :)

I tried 2-3 times on different sites (J! 1.5) in polish lang - but still in alias field I get no letters after I use polish letters in titles, nothing changes.

Hi, you should check if the plugin is enabled.
If you are not able to run it, you should ask on Phoca Forum to get help.
