--- Installation ---
Download the plugin.
Install the plugin.
Enable the plugin by searching for 'Content - Custom Page Title' in your plugins manager.
--- Usage ---
Edit the article you want to change the page title for.
Enter your keywords or wording in to they text box 'Key Reference' which is located in the Advanced Parameters for the article you are editing.
Notes:
If you leave the key reference blank then the default page title will be set.
The same can be reproduced with the core Joomla 1.5.x installation on menu items, by changing the Page Title options in a menu item.
Joomla! 1.5.x cannot assign a custom page title to each article if you are displaying them in a blog format.
--- Update ---
Fixed an issue where the plugin was replacing the page title for blogs. The plugin no longer replaces the page title if the view is a blog type (frontpage, category, section).

Quick and easy install, and working within minutes. Does exactly as advertised.
Only gripe would be that it whilst it works superbly with articles, it doesn't have the facility to give category/section pages custom titles. Is this in the pipeline?
Other than that, it's great!

...and I consider that an instant fail. This is a plugin for SEO that doesnt work with the most commonly used sef component out there. If this was fixed however this component would be indispensable.

Very easy to use plugin, and does what it promises to do, it solved my problem with article titles. It also worked on my local WAMP installation, although someone reported it didn't worked for him few months ago.

I like this tool because when used with joomla 1.5.10, it completes what I need to do for SEO. It solves all my title tag issue for the time being. Thanks for making life so easy.

I have been looking for a plug-in that allowed me to have a custom title on a page, but keep the title in the editor simple for people maintaining the site. I looked at the Joomla 1.5 SEO patch, but didn't like the idea of having to hand install all the files (never installed it). I installed sh404sef, but couldn't get it to work (uninstalled it). I tried Simple Meta Manager, but the home page had one title if I went to the index.php file and another if I went to it with all the dynamic URL attributes in it (uninstalled it). I installed Custom Page Title SEO and it did exactly what it said and allows me to make edits when I'm in the content editing area for a page. I'm working on a small site, so things like prefixing or appending items to the title won't be an issue for me. I needed a simple solution for a custom title and this did the trick for me.

The Plug in is great for the article but in frontpage it will inherit the title of the last article in the frontpage.

That Custom Page Titel Plug is really what I was looking for. Works great concerning article titles. Helped at once to improve my google appearance. But on the Frontpage, where in my case three articles are presented, it just overwrites the page title (what it shouldn't do) and takes one of the titles of the three articles. Any idea how to change this?

Works as described. Had no problem installing on wamp or on live 1.5 site without errors. Only wish is to be able to extend function with an ability to have global site name added to title... just a silly wish.
I tried installing this on WAMP(local) it doesn't install.
I installed it to an online Joomla installation ... installs online Ok, BUT when I changed the Key Reference on one of the articles, and went to frontend to view changes, this plugin immediately caused a PHP Warning message.
Either I'm doing something wrong or this plugin plainly & simply doesn't work.

This works very well and can help your seo. I had to disable Content - Alias For PageTitle Plugin (1.2) before it worked, so if it's not working for you, make sure you disable this plugin.

Its a nice simple plugin that works with J1.5 and doesn't break stuff. What it will do: insert custom title tags for articles exactly the way you want them, without adding site name before/after - if you want that, just put it in yourself.
What it doesn't do: custom title tags for sections/categories. (Use the native menu system instead, without the degree of control that you get with this plugin).
Nice work.
