The Ultimate Social Bookmarking Plugin

- This extension requires registration to download.
NOTE: Version 1.0.4 fixes the front page bug introduced by Joomla 1.5.10.

I love the small icons 16x16 as they are less intrusive to the user experience yet still deliver the desired functionality.
Its easily custumizable and shows up where you want it to using the {loadposition}.
The only problem i had with the plugin was that it messed up my template.
However after sifting through the comments section on their website i found the solution.
Im sure this will help others too.
You just need to open mod_social_widgets.php and delete the lines below
1.delete the line that calls the css…. there is no css with the installation.
2.delete the div tag that starts the whole page off…. first there is no css for this page and second the div tag does not have a closing tag to it (hence the reason for all of the messed up pages).
Thanks Otis for the provided solution.
It also submitted unresolvable URL to a couple of the sites, until I moved Joomla to root and took the URL forwarding off.

No there is absolutely no chance that this plugin is doing anything questionable. You must be displaying a whole bunch of articles on one page to make it slow down that much. Simply turn on caching in your Joomla configuration.
It really bothers me that the row of icons will appear ABOVE any "read more" link you might have. And yes, putting the big Digg icon at the top right completely interferes with any right-wrapped images. And there is no way to stop this except to completely turn it off.
Hi roadsider. As described in the documentation, the layout of this plugin is much more flexible than any other plugin available. Everything is extremely flexible. You can place every button at either the Top or Bottom position. These both have custom div classes with an included CSS file so you can float it left or right, or create any styling you wish for any layout.
Each button (there are over 60 implemented and ready for you to use) can be enabled or disabled through the XML file and set to either position in any order you wish. If you don't like the big Digg button then use the small one. If you don't want it up top then move it to the bottom. If you don't want it floating right, float it left, or leave it above the content.
As far as you being bothered by the buttons appearing above the Read More link, that's a limitation of Joomla. A content plugin can only manipulate content within an article, and Joomla places the Read More link after the article after the plugins are run.
It sounds like you're not looking for a plugin at all, you'd probably be better off using a module so you can place it somewhere else on your page.
Hi whymark. If you get an error your server isn't running PHP 5 with SimpleXML. This is explained in the documentation here on the Extensions web site, in the documentation on my web site, in the documentation included with the plugin, and in several threads in my support forums. JoomlaDigger.com uses Kunena, popular forum software which is simple to post to. You could have searched the support forums, posted to them, contacted me through the "Contact the webmaster" link in my site's main menu, or emailed me directly to the email listed here on the Extensions site. I have made it extremely easy to get support, no reason to spend hours searching for a magic support button. Best of luck to you.
On the plus side, the icons are well done and when clicked they do as expected.
While being able to customize the design is great, I hope future versions will display properly out of the box while still giving users the option to customize things.
Hi k9education. The plugin layout is properly configured through CSS, but there's nothing I can do to account for any specific layout issues related to your template. There's an included CSS file to let you make any layout changes you need to.
At least on Digg part, it works on others, like facebook, twitter, and more.
I wish I had found your plug-in first.
Great Job!
I had trouble finding the file on the developers web site, shot him off an email via his web site contact page, received a detailed response within minutes! How cool is that? Good job!
Two things I would like to see:
- it would be nice to be able to switch the buttons on/off in the admin backend
- a possibility of telling the plugin where to put the bottom buttons. Currently (on my site), they are above the 'read more' button, which I don't really like.
P.s. I tried support, but the website was down (no db connection).
The installation & configuration are simple, the buttons appear correctly at the bottom of the articles, but... it doesn't work!
All the buttons redirect simply to the social network homepage rather than to the correct page to submit links. This makes the extension basically useless...
I'm now using a different plugin, that works correctly, but it's a shame, because it's not as simple and neat as this one... too bad :(
I'm sorry you had to give this plugin a bad rating instead of simply getting support at the JoomlaDigger.com forums. The solution is simple: Your website has JavaScript errors. You need to fix your own JavaScript code, and this plugin (and every other plugin, module and component) will work perfectly for you.
I have yet to understand how the graphical configuration does work (URL Mode does, but Homepage Display does not produce any change).
Now the XML configuration files are easy to use: It allows one to enable/disable any single button.
Very good beginning.
