When building this component I drew on debate.org as an example. With the upcoming elections in the U.S.A. I figure that this will become a very popular extension for joomla. This component integrates with the most popular community extensions for joomla, Community Builder, Jomsocial and CBE.
This is the first release candidate of this extension and is ready for users to put it through their test.
It is free and still in an early stage.
Debate or debating is a formal method of interactive and representational argument. Debate is a broader form of argument than logical argument, which only examines consistency from axiom, and factual argument, which only examines what is or isn't the case or rhetoric which is a technique of persuasion. Though logical consistency, factual accuracy and some degree of emotional appeal to the audience are important elements of the art of persuasion, in debating, one side often prevails over the other side by presenting a superior "context" and/or framework of the issue, which is far more subtle and strategic.

This extension now includes 2 modules and a plugin.
mod_acooltopdebaters will show the debaters who have the most points.
mod_acooldebatecats will show your debate categories in a module as long as the category has at least one debate.
plg_search_acooldebate will allow you to use joomlas core search to include debate topics and discussions in the search results.
Not sure how this got on my site as I do not recall installing it nor does it have any use for my business, Bit strange perhaps I was very tired and do not recall!!!
A Cool Debate is a component that provides capabilities for persons to argument in favor of or against ideas, actions, proposals, candidates and the like. Just in time for the 2012 political campaign. It is inspired by debate.org. Suggestion for improvement includes add a References section with videos and url links that support arguments. Also, ratings (stars) could better that the current points system.
