UserToolbar ComponentPlugin

UserToolbar (or uBar for short) is a plugin that will add a toolbar for your users, at the bottom or on either side of the browser window. The purpose is to provide links and tools to help the user browse your site.

* This is sort of a pilot project (not yet meant for a live site). The development will depend on feedback from everyone :)

First off, I'm very impressed with this new Joomla tool. It looks like it has robust code, a very impressive array of features, and easily brings web 2.0 to most any site with such ease that it's almost unbelievable.

It would be nice if I could load modules into the toolbar. Reason being, I have some tools that aren't just simple buttons (such as my font resizer and my ajax login module), but would work brilliantly on this toolbar.

Finally, I love that this tool has almost no impact on my YSlow score. The only impact is a single doc that won't GZip: /components/com_ubar/assets/js/bar.js?0.9.1. All things considered, that's very small price to pay. Thanks for this brilliant extension!

Cheers,
Chris

Hi, first of all congretulations to this great component. I really like it. Unfortunately I have one issue on my page which prevents me from using it. While this component is activated the template on my website (Template is JoTempre Template one) does no longer scrolls fluently. Whats the reason for this jerking? Is there any possibility to avoid this? I would like to use it but so I can not do it to the users of this page? Pls. excuse mistakes, I am not a native speaker.

Best regards

I contacted the developer on 21 June 2009 about this excellent component because I thought it was a great idea and saves enormous space. I basically asked him what was his future plans for the component. He responded very quickly and acknowledged he would be adding additional functionality.

I was very impressed when I downloaded this latest version. He actually delivered on what he talked about and added more options/functionality.

A very useful component.

It's really good and I haven't noticed any incompatibility problems in different browsers. Would be very cool if the visitor or logged in user could add site links to the toolbar like some sort of favourites function, and also if the user could remove buttons they didn't want or could choose from a selection (a bit like you can with facebook).

This is very good.
Some IE problem when is used.
Some problem with search buton.
If can make this extension to save a site browsing session, or to have some page catching features?

This toolbar is cool and works great. I would still request the developer to have a support forum of a doc where instructions are provided to add or edit more buttons.

What a great little idea for a plugin. I need some functionality for a menu just like this for my users and this is nearly exactly what I needed.

Only thing that could make it better is if I could place site links within the toolbar a bit like a menu eg article links that are of interest to the user etc.

This plugin has a great, great future. With time i supose many function will be included, and maybe why not, will replace the normal (boring) user menu.
Excellent!

The idea i like, its functions i dont really.
What i thought of the plugin was that it would allow a selection a menu item named usermenu(user menu), which would then display the link of such menu selection.

thats kinda what im looking for since im aiming to direct my site into a user generated content type
