Twitter-Roll 'The Module'

Sorry, documentation & demo coming soon
CHANGE LOG:
v1.0.4:
Added ability to have two or more Twitter-Roll feeds 'with and without border effect' on the same page.
Title hyperlink now open into a new browser window/tab.
Ed is great at listening to his users and takes their suggestions seriously - so if you like and and think it could be even better, send Ed your ideas!
Thanks, Ed!
You can have more than one feed on a page, and can have multiple search terms by using a twitter API search term (see previous reviews for details).
I would have given this 5 stars but for the fact that there's no documentation around search terms and no 'follow me' button. Hopefully these can be provided in the next version?
PaulDV, thanks for your review and rating. Based on your comments, I would suggest you give my updated release called Twitter Roll Deluxe (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/social-web/social-display/twitter-display/21183). This release will do everything you asked for and more... a lot more!
That is: from%3Ayourtwittername and it works perfect!!
DSSH, thanks for your kind comments and search work-around. Both are most welcomed for sure!
The only thing that took a bit of effort was figuring out how to insert a hashtag into the Twitter query. For others struggling with formatting a query, go to http://twitter.com/#!/search-advanced, construct your query, then the URL of the returned page will include the query you need. (BTW the answer is you need to use %23 instead of # to search for hashtags).
I think the module could benefit from a bit more help on structuring queries, but otherwise an excellent module that has helped to add a nice feature to my site. Thanks!
One I think would really be a huge improvement is to be able to show tweets from one user rather than search for their twitter handle - several requests for this and the developer says it's a work in progress, so looking forward to seeing it!
In the preparation of the migration I installed this twitter module because it is available in both Joomla versions.
Installation was a breeze and even more important: the developer is very responsive to support questions and even feature suggestions!
Can highly recommend this (and his other extensions as well)
Pros:
- Scrolling feed showing single tweet
- Easy to install and set up
- Customizable dimensions and box colours
- Takes CSS styling from site
Cons:
- Doesn't allow to feed from a specified twitter account/s, only searches words within tweets
- Cannot changed number of tweets it will show (default is set to 15)
- Cannot edit font or link styling
Looking forward to see this module develop in the future!
Not a module for designers in any way :(
davidosullivan, Thank you for your review and constructive criticism regarding Twitter-Roll 'The Module'. If you want to re-style beyond the module's options then you'll need to re-style your template's CSS. All of the text colors are pulled directly from this file. This is how the vast majority of 'data' modules are being written. I'm always looking for ways to improve this module so pass along your suggestions on my forum and I'll see if it can be done. Thanks again!
drewsmith71, Thank you for your kind review and comments. Glad I was able to assist with your request and as an FYI... I'm working on your other suggestion right now. Thanks again!
