New: Now includes Twitter & Facebook badges in the footer
But, there is a problem. When displaying all of the articles in a section or category in a blog format, the articles do not include this extension. It only works when viewing the individual article. It works, but the way my website is setup, I have many places with lots of blogs listed one after another and it would be a nice feature to have.
Another very small glitch, is that you have to fill in one of the first two boxes in the configuration section or else you won't get anything on the articles. Even if you fill in some random number like 999 in the 2nd box, it will work.
If you remove Facebook and Twitter from the "side" box, then it also removes the classic twitter "like" and "tweet" buttons from the bottom. (minus 1 star)
If you go to tweet a page, it adds a "via @AddThis" at the end of a tweet. (minus 1 star)
The plugin is; however, easy to configure, and seems to have potential.
I tried contacting this user to let him know his "issues" are EASILY fixable by simply putting in his Twitter info in the config page.
Our site is not down, I'm not sure what site he was visiting.
Any badges you decide to show or hide in the top portion are completely independent from the buttons on bottom (You can show both or only one set if you'd like).
The "@AddThis" tag being added to each tweet is because he never put in his Twitter @username. That's explained in the config page. I wish he would have contacted our support forum to help with these issues, instead of giving our plugin a low star rating when our developers work hard to provide & update this free plugin.
I am not the only one with this issue, im using a relativly vanilla Joomla install, the comments below are testimony that something isnt quite right with this plugin.
I'm not sure why you use this rating system to discuss your problems. We have never heard of this plugin simply not working. I see that you didn't notify us about this in our dedicated support forum. If you have issues with this plugin, there's no reason to attack the developers without even talking to them.
Thanks for the note. We actually had the Exclusion option in testing for quite some time. We just released the latest version with Exclusions, Twitter badge, & tons of upgrades/enhancements.
Please ask on our forum for questions or features before posting issues here. We respond much faster on our forum.
playmedia,
I don't see any messages from you in our forum. It's the best place to get support & we reply to all messages. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. We've never had that problem before. Sorry you couldn't get it working.
Hey, Thanks for the review. Sorry you couldn't figure out how to show only Digg, but the options are explained in the admin side. For each service, select "Yes" to show & "No" to not show. So if you only want to show Digg, Set FB, Twitter, & Yahoo to "No." (& set Digg to "Yes").
Also, we have a forum where you can ask these questions. Most everything you mentioned is explained on this joomla.org page & shown in the images.
The only area which I would bring up (which has been mentioned) is perhaps an option where you can stipulate “all” categories rather than having to enter in all of the id’s from the categories table – but being perfectly honest this was only a very minor niggle.
Considering that you pay nothing for this plugin and the functionality that it gives back – this is a must have!
I've been playing with it for almost a week in my local test bed and it has worked flawlessly up to now.
The layout integrates nicely to all the templates I've tested it on with little or no adjustments to the CSS.
A larger set of side buttons (big buttons) would be a nice addition.
Someone asked about the FB "Like it" button in the demo site, and I think it's a different thing. There's a link there with instructions on how to set it up.
Well done! Keep up the good work.
I installed the present version. Installation was very simple. It works beautifully, and integrates nicely into my site. I might tweak the css eventually so it fits the template better, but maybe not. All in all, I have to say I am impressed. Thank you.
I especially love the way this plugin works with Facebook. It is completely intuitive for the user. Great job.
There's just one problem, Social icons are not friendly and beautiful enough on a black background content.
Big thanks and congratulations for the well done job.
Thanks for the kudos. Didn't think of an "all categories" value. Will try to add it. Please post any suggestions in our forum so we can address before posting a less than 5 star rating here. We'd like to help, but can't if we don't know how.
The only thing that would make it better for me is if I could designate a section/category by drop-down menu or list instead of having to find the ID number for all the categories. Otherwise great.
