DropdownTOC is a content plugin for Joomla! 1.5.x, based on the mospaging_scroll mambot for Joomla! 1.0.x by Inetis Sarlt(http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,1731/Itemid,35/). TOC means Table Of Contents, which will be shown when you break a long article into more pages. The original TOC of Joomla! is a table-like list of links to each page, which is ugly and will occupy some space on your page. DropdownTOC plugin will replace that list and show visitors a dropdown list. If the visitor choose one page on that list, then the browser will open that page. DropdownTOC Usage: You need to manually insert the syntax at where you want to break the page to show the dropdown list. Available syntax: {jospagebreak_scroll} or {jospagebreak_scroll title=The page title} or {jospagebreak_scroll heading=The first page} or {jospagebreak_scroll title=The page title&heading=The first page} or {jospagebreak_scroll heading=The first page&title=The page title} Where The page title means the title for current page, you can understand it as "following page" when you inserting the code. heading means the title for the first page, you can only define it once. If you find this plugin helpful, please rate/review it. Thanks! Any problems, bug reports or feature requests, please contact joomlagate@gmail.com, or you also can discuss it on the Chinese Joomla! Forum at http://www.joomlagate.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,31/.

The links work well and the dropdown menu appears on my pages. However for pages other than the first it does not display the page title, it just puts "Page x" so the menu would look like this
-This is the title of my article
-Page 2 (instead of "Second page of article")
-Page 3 (instead of "Third page of article")
Not sure why it does this. Also there is limited options for formatting and positions then drop down menu.
If these issues were fixed then I feel that I could use this extension on my site.

The plug-in replaces the Joomla TOC but does need to be configured in each page's content using it's own code. This suits me fine though as I will mainly use it when I have a lot of pages within an article to avoid the messiness of the built-in Joomla page-list - about one such article every few weeks. I contacted the developers and they even added some extra functionality I requested. Good job!

Ok I haven't red other people posts regarding this, I downloaded it, installed it, and not seen what I was expecting.
I though this plugin would replace the default article navigation, but it just makes it more difficult.
Now I have to modify all my hundreds of pages to new page navigation tags? No way....
I recommand coding a backend option to read Dropdown TOC tags OR default Joomla page navigation tags like
and when I enable this plugin, desable default Joomla Content - Pagebreak plugin and that should be it!
Thank you,
Danny

Thanks for your feedback, we had added this new feature of replacing default Joomla article TOC in the new version v1.3. Please test with this new one.

I spent 2 hours writing up a super-long multi-page article in Joomla, only to find that the default pagination index looked HORRIBLE! This plugin totally changed that, it's just what I needed.
It could use a few added features, like better options for the placement of the drop-down box on the page. But then everyone is always asking for "new features" anyways.

thank you for your work, i gave it 4 star because the NEXT and PREVIOUS doesn't work with advancedSEF, which i use on my site so i couldn't use this one, but thanks, it's very useful, and if you have the time to fix the problem it will be great

Just what the doctor ordered, as the old dropdown menu extensions broke due to the J1.5 update.
I use J1.5.6, and DropdownTOC works great. There are some peculiarities to keep in mind:
1) You'll likely get an language pack error on install, as most don't have the chinese language pack installed. Ignore the error.
2) The formatting is a little off, as it crowded my icons on my template. For formatting changes, go to the php file in line 193, change it to
You can use whatever styles you like, of course.
The support was top notch, even got two requested improvements in less than 24 hours, one of which included a radio dial in the backend to select a dropdown box at the bottom of pages.
Stellar!
