The component is a NEW release (now at v2.1 BETA) and now has some extremely useful admin functionality (hard work by Daz and Mic) that allows the user to create a Google sitemap and show/hide the menu items.
Change Log:
The PHP shortcode issue.
Component Usage:
To make this component function, simply install the supplied ZIP file using the Joomla admin area. After successful installation, create a menu link to the component, selecting the default view. Remember to "enable" each menu you wish to display on the frontend.
Google sitemap generation is presently achieved by creating a menu link as above, but now to the "Google" specific link item. Now you will need to click on the frontend menu link as this is required to make the "sitemap.xml" file in the root of the Joomla directory (directory and file permissions dependant). If required you can now remove the link (or simply unpublish it) from the menu.
Future updates include automatic sitemap updating, advanced settings for display options.
Please keep this page bookmarked for future updates.
thanks to this component i could make my sitemap for google for webmasters.
what i noticed is it gets the separator menu and adds it to the xml, but in general +10 for this.

I downloaded and installed this component and the instruction manual in less than a minute. There were no settings to worry about and after two minutes I had created a 'front end' sitemap plus a very well composed sitemap.xml file. It worked flawlessly and I recommend it for constructing Joomla site maps. The instructions seemed a bit vague about creating the Google (xml) sitemap but it was quickly apparent that the two types of site map must be created separately by selection in the back end. Full marks for this extension!
Needs the General Settings to be complete!
looking forward to the final version.
Nothing has been a problem with this extension.
fast installation and it does the job!
The Google XML is a nice addition!

Does exactly what it says. Creates google sitemaps from your menus, leaving out all the joomla component links.
Now a little advice to those who do not have all there links in menus:
Go find an automatic menu generator. These usually work from sections or categories. You can find them here on the Joomla Extensions Directory.

great component saves lives, well it did mine. thank you
This component is excellent. I was having trouble submitting my sitemap to Google but the XML file generated by this component worked like a charm.
Thanks for extension, actually i liked it. The problem on that loads server(RAM) too much, especially when you have lots of content.
I have nearly 20000 content in my site and JM Sitemap can`t create sitemap with so much links and gives error:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 83 bytes)
Works great with little site.

If all your pages are linked by a menu item this is a great tool.
If you have a menu item that links to sections or categories and would like the articles to be indexed that will not happen with the current version.
If you frequently change your content. (or infrequently.) You will need to edit the changefreq from yearly to what ever is appropriate. (either by editing sitemap.xml or the php code.)
If it indexed all your content and allowed you to show or not show it on the site map and specify the frequency of updates, and auto label archives as archives I would rate it as good.
If it did all that and detected all "duplicate" content and prompted you to rank which version you wanted ranked 0.6, 0.5, 0.4 etc. Then it would score excellent.
As it is if you just want your menus turned into a site map it does that flawlessly.

I will strongly recommend this tool for everyone. It does what it says. The xml generator for google works very well. Thanks to development team. Keep going
