Powerful Joomla! drop-down menu based on YUI menu widget.

ARI YUI menu is a great dropdown menu. It is good for both horizontal and vertical menu. With Admin control I can customize width and height and other aspects of the menu, although some other aspects of the menu like background color, shadows and text color are not in Admin control and need to be changed in css file. CSS file however is hard to understand and customize.
Altogether ARI YUI menu is a great service as a free extension.

Experience of joomla - designed and built several templates in joomla. Not a professional but good knowledge of html, css and php.
Pros - Easy to install, nice amount of control from the front end control panel, excellent support from the developer, FREE!
Cons - Difficult and long process to make drastic changes to the standard css. Problem with drop down menus displaying behind other modules (easily sorted using z-index property). Seems to be an awful lot of code generated, and much unnecessary CSS.
All in all a good extension with very good support. Would definitely recommended.

I downloaded the module for use on a new 1.6 site. I had a slight problem with the menu being hidden by certain content pages so I left a message on the support forum. Within a very few hours there was a complete solution posted - which worked flawlessly.

I really like to do a lot of templating and css styling myself. However I had a real pain trying to make a drop down menu working in IE7. So I turned to this ARI YUI Menu extension. It didn't work right away either, but after I posted a question in their forum I got an answer very quickly and it solved my problem. So 10 out of 10 for service.
Maybe we could use a bit more of documentation for the css classes which are used in this component. So my overall rating is Good, not Excellent. When it comes to service, I'd say Excellent without any doubt.

I needed a menu on the bottom, that would show the child items (sub menus) but I needed them to Drop-'Up'. This did it without me doing anything!
All I did was enable it, and give it a module position (copyright position) and it just did it!!!
I really had no idea how to go into the css of a mod and tell it to not drop down, but to do the opposite! Thanks, guys for the fast response with a support question. Next time I'll buy a mod! You deserve it.

I installed the menu with no problem. I was not sure how to change some things like width and height of the sub-menu items. I posted to the support forums and the response was literally lightening fast. The best support I have ever seen. It is a great menu and very flexible. I will use this on all of my sites from now on!
I've used many menu systems over the years, and this one was the easiest and quickest to get going on my Joomla 1.5.22 site.
I love being able to drop in CSS code within the module manager of the CMS for this. You can easily set your widths for the main menu items here, just by noting the menu item IDs, taking a quick look at the rendered source and dropping in the appropriate CSS right in the CMS...

Not only is this relative easy to use, taking into consideration my limited knowledge, I am sure many for you out there will have no problem using it

I can't say enough about the developer. They provide a great, functional module and top-notch customer support. Take a look at their forum and see how responsive they are. I have seen plenty of developers that ignore petty requests from users but there is no question too small for Ari-Soft. A+!!
