CustoMenu is an extremely powerful menu module. It gives you full control over the display of your menu. You can use one of your menus or be completely independent of the Joomla! menu structure by selecting items from different menu's. You get a bunch of Advanced Parameters to your disposal.
Advanced Parameters include:
* Override item names and/or links
* Active state when child item is opened
* Active state when any other defined set of menu items is opened
* Full control over layouts and styles
* Turn your menu into a image only menu
Fully stylable
CustoMenu comes with a number of different layouts. You can change these and add your own. So you have full controll over the HTML structure of your menu.
Also the stylesheets can be turned to your hand. This means you have full control over the display properties through the use of CSS. You can use the CSS file that comes with the package, and change that to your likings or add your own.
Output Extra CSS
This feature gives you the ability to include extra CSS files related to the active menu item. This means that you can have different backgrounds, color schemes or whatever per menu item.
1-Level
This menu is a 1-level menu. So if you are looking for a menu with pull downs, drop downs or trees, look further. But for many sites a 1-level (main) menu is just what is desired.
So: CustoMenu does NOT support sub menus!!!

This module makes up one KEY area where the Joomla Core falls short. The ability to use images in menus is something that I have wanted to be able to do for so long. Add to this the ability to do drop downs, and you have the PERFECT menu system. THANK YOU! AMAZING module!

It's still on my mind somewhere to add at least a second level. But that won't happen until I have some time... hmmm...

Very good module. Not for sub-menus. Just what I was looking for. I wanted images I could title tag differently. Perfect. Only thing I needed to customize beyond css and images was I added alt tags capability and ...

After installing this module to test, I quickly fell in love with how easy it was to get it to do exactly what I wanted. The files are well commented and the .css file already had the exact syntax needed to override the default background, active, hover, etc.. settings. Too easy! The developer was quick to get back to me on several questions helping me out with CustoMenu, as well as an unrelated question. I'll certainly be using this module on future web projects.

Does exactly what it says and is a true timesaver ... easy to install and easy to handle the CSS file ...
I only have troubles setting the active menu on child ID's on Joomla 1.0.x with the 2.0.3 version ... hope I will get it ...

The J! 1.0.x version has not been updated for some time. And I'm sorry to say that I don't have the time to work on that version. But you are free to hack it to get it to work how you want.
The 'active on child ID's' option does work in the J! 1.5.x version. That version will be kept updated.
Truly excellent extension. It really saved my day for a specific project, after trying several other menu extensions.
It enables you to make a rollover effect with three images (normal, hover and active), all in pure CSS (no Flash, no Javascript), which was I was looking for.

Now it also has MoodalBox support. I'd like to see the website you implemented it on (also from other people out there using CustoMenu!)
