JcatX Module

Editor's Note
  • This extension requires registration to download.
Joomla! includes a variety of modules that can be used right away. One of them is the Section module. This module shows a list of all sections that have been created in Joomla! but sometimes it is more usefull to have a list of all categories within a section. At this point the default Joomla! modules cannot deliver what you want. We took the section module and adjusted the code so that you can select a section and their categories will be shown as a list. To see the it in action take a look at the "Article categories" module on our website.

You can choose to display the results either as a table like the section module or as blog layout (what the section module does not offer).
As a small addition we included the option to select from 3 different styles. If the delivered styles do not fit your needs you can edit the css-files: ~/modules/mod_categories/style1.css for example.

I downloaded this module and some similar modules on here which allow you to list the categories in a section. After playing with them all, I feel that this one is the best overall. A bit of a bigger hassle to download this one, but it's worth it. In the future, it would be nice if they add the ability to list the categories of more than one section in a single view, like other modules on here allow. Other than that, really nice looking and great module!

BTW, to save everyone some time, when you want to load this module into an article, just enable the load position plugin and use the syntax: {loadposition position-name-of-this-module}

Very simple and important module. There was an issue configuring the module to display the category blogs when sef was turned on. Check the forum for the solution, and other helpful tips.

This does exactly what it says it does and I have no idea why this functionality isn't in joomla core along with mod_sections.
