Error 404

- Yes
* an explanation text
* a link to your homepage
* a search engine that searches on your website
For each error, a mail is sent to the address you want to tell you. You can also define keywords to avoid some of these mails. For example, if you add the keyword "test", all the dead links with the word test will display the error page to users, but will not send the mail. There is now an admin interface for these keywords.
Since version 1.6 the text of the error page can be changed easily from the admin interface.
Version 1.7 to 2.0a correct errors in the plugin and improve detection of pages in error.
This component is available in French, English, Ukrainian, Russian, Brasilian, Dutch and Czech.
This version is now compatible with the native Joomla SEF. You do not need to change the htaccess file anymore. The redirection is done by a plugin which uses the original htaccess file from Joomla.
I was a bit anxious using it reading some of the latest reviews but I wanted to give it a chance.
Installation of the component and plugin was easy. And it works. I now have a custom 404 within my template.
Thanks
I don't know it its construction follows joomla rules, but be very very careful in using it.
I would not recommend it after having spent one day reconfiguring the server
Again, please send such problems on my forum. How can I help and correct problems if you don't tell me !

Best,

Installing it went fine, but then problems started.
After installation I went to check it out in the "Components" menu. Something went wrong there because the screen got blank/white. After a while I was "allowed" to go into plugins manager, but instead of "All" plugins listed as I had set it to, only 20 was found. No matter what I did all screens got blank/white.
I wouldn´t recommend this as it´s obviously give administrators as well, in their own administrator area. ;)
Uninstalling it needed me to remove the plugin and component through ftp, then trying to remove it through the admministrator interface as well. If the eventual db lines was removed this way, I don´t know, but I hope so.
Hi, sorry to read you had headache.
If you had posted on the forums I could help you, and I could solve the bug ... if there is one. Here is the english forum :

I'm using this component on my Joomla 1.7 website and it works without problem. You can test it here :
http://www.cdprof.com
Not sure that what you describe is related to com_error404. Why should a plugin for the frontend limit the display of plugins in the backend ?
If you can't uninstall, it has more chance to be related to rights problems on your server.
If you upgrade from joomla 1.5, after upgrading you have to install the new version of com_error404. You can find on cdprof.com one version for Joomla 1.5 and another for Joomla 1.7.
Again, if you post on the forum, it will be a pleasure to help you.
Best,
Alain
Wanted to update an older version of it on my site - but the downloadlink and the other links on the author's site are broken.
Could you please provide a working downloadlink?
thx, for his great extension!
Hi,
I'm upgrading my website to Joomla 1.6, so some links can be broken. I corrected the download link in this page.
Thanks for your review.
Best,
Alain
Otherwise you will see your "Page not found" pages in global Google search results.
Tnx!
Hi Lufa,
For me, the component returns a 404 error code.
Please tell me more of your problem and why you are thinking it doesn't return a 404 code in the component's forum :

Best,
Alain
It even sent out an e-mail (if you like) so you can check on your site where and why this link is broken.
LOVE IT!
I added "Yahoo! Slurp" (3) as a keyword to leave off the list. This will make sense once you install. A big thumbs up - guys.
Ok, I corrected this bug in version 2.0a.
You can use the cdprof.com's forums to tell me the bugs you find. There is a forum for english speaking visitors.
Thank you.
To the JED team:
I hope the title of this review ( Error 404 - Page not found ) will help people find it. At this point if you just type "404" it does not show up, because com_error404 is treated by the search engine as one word.
