Om Redirect ComponentPlugin

As many SEO Experts need to redirect old/broken/not found URL to a new stable URL. Most of them use .htaccess as to fix the old/broken/not found URL. But what about those who don’t have access to the root or to the .htaccess file. This component will make think easy with just few clicks. Most of you must be aware that there are main two types when it comes to redirecting a URL

# 301 moved permanently
# 307 temporary redirect

This component simplifies the process just by adding a) old URL b) new URL c) select the status code.

The redirects are not shown in the backend. The English terms used in the component and plugin are not correct (typos)

Full URL, path, or other tests - not working for me.
Thank you, but you need to make your own tests, fix it and publish it as the working edition.
Thank you,
Milos

I has looking for that. 1.6 have already such compo.

Some notes

Hits not working. Also at documentation you dont refer to write the old URL without http://domain.com/

Needs the Path URL not the FULL URL. I made some test and only this worked for me.

Should give via code the case of full url. (you can cut it if, matches with current(compo installed) domain location)

Thanks anyway.

When old URL is entered, it shows 404 error instead of redirect me to a new link. see other users problems here; http://code.google.com/p/omredirect/issues/detail?id=2

is there any forum or contact email to get support for this extension?

I have been looking for something like this for awhile. I just rebuilt my site and a lot of my external links are now pointing to pages that have been moved. It has saved me tons of work of having to do this in .htaccess not to mention my SEO. Install in seconds and very easy to use.

Thanks!

Gave Om redirect a live test before going editing any core file with Phoca SEF. IMHO it is freaking simple and fast: took me 2 minutes to install, add a first URL and check it works :)

I added the old/new URLs like this:
Old: /spip.php?article22
New: /new_friendly_URL.html
And that's it!

First i was kindof intimidated by the apparent lack of any documentation. Then I found myself done, having the result i wanted in a few minutes. Of course I'll check this as this extension deserves a 5/5 if proves to be effective with permanent redirections.
Oh and a single feature I miss is the "Storing links from sites which end with 404 Error" that other, bigger extension offer. Maybe i should go for some log-featured replacement?

Great job Mister mghnpawar03!
