Infobar Module

UPDATED! Now working with !J1.5 Native.

This module shows as the Activex infobar in IE when downloading files, and stopping popup windows. It will only show to visitors, and not to logged in users.

To get this module working, you'll need a module position directly below the tag in you templates index.php file.
Simply edit your index.php file, located in your templates root directory.
ex:"templates/yourtemplate/index.php"

Here you put in (I am using header as an example):
(Joomla 1.0) mosLoadModules('header', -1);
(Joomla 1.5) jdoc:include type="modules" name="header" /

Directly below the body tag.
(remember to have php tags before and after J1.0 code)
(remember to have tags < before and after /> J1.5 code)
Now upload your edited index.php file to your server, install the module, and publish it in your module position (header). Enjoy!

Changes:
** Now working with !J 1.5 native, Enjoy, and please support me **
** Fixed register link editable from backend in version 1.0.1 **

This is one of the best extensions. Easy to install. I haven't any problem with any browsers.
Would be good if there was an 'x'/close type image and for the bar to disappear if the visitor really doesn't want to register - I guess it would need a cookie or something to remember.
Cheers!
This is a nice Module, but needs a few tweaks.

First, one has to create a MODULE POSITION. Some templates have a 5 and some have even 18-19 module positions. One has to identify a Module Position that is NOT LISTED. To do this one has to go through the index.php file and identify a module that is not LISTED. Which means it would be difficult to 'blindly' follow the instructions listed on top of this page. If TOP, INSET, or any Module is already listed in your template then these instructions won't work.

Secondly, each Template is coded differently for the functioning of a Module. Hence carefully go through the index.php and find out how each template is coded. [jdoc:include type="modules" name="module_name"] will not work always.

Sometimes it could be
[countModules( 'module_name' ) > 0) { ?>

]

Having tweaked the Module Positioning (as per the instructions given), it will be easy to make this Module work.

Nice for websites where REGISTRATION is required and important ...
We just installed this on our site, on the day we got on top of the Top Rated extension list. ( PixSearch Ajax Search module ).

Instead of lowering the conversion rate on registered users when the traffic went crazy(!), we ended up getting more registered users / visit.

I am Really impressed!

Thank you!

Yes this is a nice little module and simply highlights some information with a link to your customers or clients, and can be used for anything.

Good stuff

Works great, best way i've seen so far to get visitors to register.
This is a fantastic idea with simple execution. Users can't help but notice it, plus the module can be configured to meet your own image/color needs.

Furthermore, Metz was really helpful on his support forum! He spent time helping me even though it was a beautiful day outside (doesn't happen too often in Northern Norway where he lives)! I can't thank him enough for this simple but extremely effective module.

Keep up the good work!

P.S. If we could edit the CSS settings for "initial" "mouse over color" "text color" and "images" in the module settings itself it would be even better! Still, this one deserves five stars!

I really like the idea, a simple way to increase the registration.
Well done and thank you for shared it.

I have installed this module on my website, it works very well. It allows to customize the message/info at backend.

But I think if it can allow to customize the register link at backend, then it will be better. Since not every website uses the same link for registration.

Thanks to the author.

It's such a Usefull little Component..... And its so simple...Can be a bit obtrusive sometimes...but then its based upon your usage....Great tool though....follows KISS (Keep It Simple)...
Can be easily modified to display an AD to users...

Good work
