XTypo Plugin Plugin

XTypo is a GPL joomla mambot / plugin that able to produce an extra nice css styling to your joomla content. With this plugin, you don't need anymore to put any hard code css into your template css just to get an extra css styling for your content. Just install and publish this plugin and get your extra css easily with adding a string like this : {xtypo_alert} . . . {/xtypo_alert} , {xtypo_quote} . . . {/xtypo_quote} etc , into your joomla content. Another good news is, this plugin also configurable, so you can modify the styling looks from the backend parameter. You can change the icon, define the border size, define the padding, etc ... and then create your own new styling

Changelog for Version 1.2 :
- Added New Tag : Rounded Corner and Button

Also available for Joomla 1.5 version

Report

I am not an expert, but I tried this plugin (the alert, the info and the quote ones) in Fire Fox 3.5.3 and Internet Explorer 8 (without any compatibility)

Whereas in FF I did not have any issue at all, in IE8 I got some problems easily solved when I loaded the strings without bold characters.

I think it works in both explorers fine. Sorry if I am wrong.
Sadly, doesn't work on IE on Vista. At least not now.

Unfortunately most non techie people use IE as it comes standard and now actually works OK! hence, I recommend that a plugin or other component should not be released unless it's compatible with the top browsers.

does look great on FireFox and I have to commend the development of this tool... but sadly I can't use it, my clients only know how to click links, not download new browsers...

This plugin allows me to style my articles with ease!

No more attempting to write css, simply use this plugun!

It's great!
This is such a simple plugin that it is too good to be true. Works beautifully and is so easy.

I encourage the developers to add the following:
- Rounded boxes with space for headings (in a different color) and a list where the box will have a separate color.

- Modules so that separate types of css of the same style can be added

This rocks
It's a good plugin but I've found a problem with IE7 and {xtypo_roundedX}. This problem is that when you leave a page showing this tip and go to another window and later return the focus to the original one the boxes loose the right margin and the content inside the boxes blows up. Nevertheless in firefox works very well and this problems does not apear.

I have used Xtypo for a while and it is a fantastic plug in for those who need beautiful CSS in articles. Installation is simple. Using the code is even easier.
The developers provide a very useful list of style examples in the plug in. You just copy and paste the syntax into your article and voila, it works.

After some trial and error, and checking the forums, I found out that IE7 renders the code differently than FF. Some styles work in both browsers (quotes), while other styles seem to generate problems with IE7(rounded boxes) - or perhaps it is better to say that IE7 is creating the problems, because it works with FF.

The solution is incredibly simple: When you copy and paste the code from the examples in the plug in, the typo coding syntax is in bold characters. This seems to be a problem for IE7. Just make sure the code you place in your article is not in bold and the styles work in FF and IE7!!!

Two thumbs for the developers.
This is a very good plugin to make it easier for inserting special typographic blocks in the article content.

Thanks to the author, hope you will add more styles and icon images to make it more beautiful.

Thansk for this plugin very useful to give more style.

but there is a problem it's doesn't work well with SEF enable in joomla 1.5.6 :

the pathway to the image seems to be false.
I don't know of a better solution for page styling.

This mambot does for free what others try to achieve through longwinded, clumsy, expensive, restrictive components.

It looks like the developer might keep adding more styles. What more could you want?

Good work! it will be perfect if the plugin will work also in module contents and other component contents (editable by wysywig editor). But right now it is also great work!
It really is great for someone such as myself with limited CSS knowledge - if you're happy enough to configure it's features then it'll do a great job for you!

Two points: there are differences between IE7 and FF2, but that's life! Also, I would like to be able to configure the text size for the xtypo_quotes, is that possible and if not, is there any reason why this cannot be implemented?

This plugin is great, Very nice effects, especially the quote one.

But unfortunately it has a small bug: PDF prints of pages using xtypo syntax will show code {xtypo_quote} in the pdf as text.
I've installed this on two sites, and can't say enough about it. Extremely simple to use out of the box with the default parameters, but broad configuration options let you completely customize the appearance of the styled type if you're after a particular look and willing to take some time to play with it. I'm especially a fan of xtypo_quote insert, which is a great graphic tool for breaking up type-heavy pages or emphasizing specific take-away points from a long piece.
Looks amazing in Firefox but really doesn't like internet explorer 6 or 7. Seems that no one is willing to fix it either. I would recommend this for anyone who does not care about their internet explorer members.

This mambot installed easily. It was quite surprising the difference it creates to the overall look and feel of your site! I have no hesitation in recomending this. A must for Joomla developers.

This is awesome.

I tested this on my site, on one page, with photos being used in the rounded1 style, as well as the dropcap and the quote.

No, to answer some folks who could not get this to work on some piece of text, it won't work everywhere. But that is sometimes the price you pay for free GNU stuff. However, as I see for most people, this is working.

It certainly worked for me, and is allowing me to create a more stylized site without having to noodle with lots of CSS -- and I'm a web front end coder myself. For my own site, I prefer NOT to noodle with code. I just want to be able to create content, and make it look good, and that's why i use Joomla!

And this extension ROCKS.

This has to be far and away one the better yet hidden gems on the extensions here. This handy bot allows you to insert the typography with ease (with just some easy to use tags). The documentation is great ... and actually is in the bot itself so it is always there (I actually printed the instructions after installing the bot but this was unnecessary as it was all there included in this most recent version). Best of all, it formats well without a whole lot of tweaking, but you are free to tweak if you so choose.

A+++ here. Thanks.
I installed this Mambot (aka Plugin) with a quick upload and then added some xtypo code to my articles. Boom - Instant professional look.

Here are all the options available:

I really like the quotes, dropcap, and rounded boxes !

They also have great templates like that golf one :)
