Ninja Super sIFR ComponentPluginLanguage

Spiff your site up with sIFR!

Ninja Super sIFR allows you to quickly and easily put stylish fonts on your site without the need for images. It uses an advanced flash technique called sIFR to convert text on the fly into new fonts and colors, and even to add special effects like drop shadows to the text.

Ninja Super sIFR's is a significant improvement upon our earlier sIFR extension and it's advanced component interface makes uploading and using new fonts a breeze, and with the majority of the parameters being driven by lists or buttons, creating font instances is just as easy.

Now with over 25 parameters for controlling the font appearance, Ninja Super sIFR is far and away the leading sIFR solution for Joomla.

It also fixes many of the most complained about or requested features of other sIFR implementations:
* Links and Menu items can now be sIFRed
* You can add drop shadows, with different colors and depths to your text
* An advanced component interface to make uploading sIFR font files a breeze
* Detailed component management of sIFR instances gives you more control than ever before
* Control which pages for the sifr to be displayed on, allowing different styles or colors on different pages.

Note: Ninja Super sIFR is a Silver Level extension at the Ninja Forge Extension Club, which is only $10 for access to -all- Silver level extensions.

[UPDATE: 1.1.5]
* Fixed cursor bug in non-link sifr'd text
* Fixed drop shadow bug

[UPDATE: 1.1.3]

* Updated to sIFR r436
* Update component without uninstalling previous version

[UPDATE: 1.1.0]

This extension will definitely spice up your site! The sky is the limit for the fonts you can use and the different configuration options. It is exactly what i was looking for, and there is excellent support for it on the developers forum. Replies are prompt and kind! Great work NinjaForge!

To be honest, i was a bit wary that rendering fonts would slow things down a bit, but this very well written extension by Ninja is very slick and the specialty fonts snap up quickly after page load.

By far the most liberating part about this (I use the module, so you can turn it on/off for specific pages) is that you can use ANY font you'd like. Just pick your font, go to an online font conversion site, and away you go!

I've even used the special fonts on my accordion menu -- works a treat, looks ultra-professional, like you spent the time to craft each one individually!

Quality work, and I must say, one of the "highest impact" type of extensions I've seen -- just peppering your site with a few of these fonts for headlines and menu options seriously makes the site look hot.

Great extension, great effect. Love it!

This does the job perfectly .. easy to setup, with loads of parameters for perfectly sIFR'd fonts. Excellent support too; when I chose an awkard font, the Ninjas added an additional plugin parameter - well done guys, I'm impressed!
I signed up and downloaded this extension (component and plugin) approx a week ago to put the finishing touches on the look of my own website and have been very impressed with the results and the support given by the guys at NinjaForge.

The only issues I have had were to do with the conversion of fonts into .swf format and this was an issue with the version of sIFR being used. Even though the problem was nothing to do with the Super sIFR extension itself, the guys at NinjaForge were extremely helpful and between us all issues were dealt with very quickly and effectively. 10/10 for support

The Component in the backend of Joomla is very easy to use and almost self explanatory. I also liked the fact you have to enable the plugin and publish the sIFR instance for it to show up, it makes life very easy if you want to try out a few different fonts and see what they look like live on your site.

I would highly recommend Super sIFR to anyone who needs to use non standard fonts on their sites...
I'm very happy with this plugin.

Quite easy to use, even for a newbie, cheap and with excellent support.

I was able to easily use my own font (something that was much harder with another sIFR plugin I tried) and set up as many styles as I wanted.

I didn't use the general component settings but set up sIFR styles for individual tags, but that just shows how versatile it is.

I did have a small problem with Firefox, but this was a sIFR problem and not to do with the plugin, never the less the support staff were able, after a couple of goes, to solve it for me.

I can definitely recommend this plugin.

This is by far the best sIFR plugin/component for J1.5 right now, hands down.

I needed to use 3 or 4 different styles of a custom font on my site, and another plug-in I tried was very limited in its functionality and only supported 1 style at a time (without a significant amount of adjustments that I had to make to it).

Super sIFR allows for an unlimited amount of separate styles and fonts so you can have different sizes, colors, or fonts for your different header tags or CSS classes, has click-of-a-button options for using it with Content Headings, Component Headings, and Module Headings, and you can determine what articles or components you want to use sIFR with.

It is so straight forward and simple to use, a caveman could do it :)

One thing I found out, is that the component will not function if your server is using PHP4, so you will need to go into your hosting account's cpanel and enable PHP5 (its super easy, just click the button under the PHP icon).

Also, if you switch from PHP 4 to 5, they will rewrite your .htaccess file, which means that if you previously had Search Engine Friendliness activated, you may need to make some adjustments to your .htaccess file to get the Joomla version back.

Once I switched to PHP5 it worked flawlessly (besides the small few glitches sIFR always has had in Firefox.)

I've tested Super sIFR in IE6, IE7, IE8 Beta (using IE Tester), FF3, Chrome, and Safari, and it displayed great in all of them.

To get this component, you have to pay $5 to get access to the "Ninja Club" or whatever its called, and its a recurring monthly charge so be aware, but IMHO, that's dirt cheap for such a high quality plug-in. It saves me lots and lots of time.

Note: The version I downloaded (1.1.0) is using sIFR3 build 419, so if you're going to be inserting a custom font that is not included, you will need to use the FLA file from the 419 build at sIFR's home page.

Thanks for the thorough good points/bad points review slimbeck. I will look into the php 4/5 thing. It should work on 4, but perhaps we used a php 5 only function somewhere.

Also if you want more fonts, you can just use http://sifrgenerator.com, and choose build 419 in the parameters it offers.
