The links to maps are hotspots directly linked to menu items, allowing you to simulate clicking on a menu item. It's also possible to get an image map as the home page linked to the different parts of the site.
The manual is available in the english and french languages

Nice extension. Does the job all right and it enabled me to use images with nice rollover effect as a navigational map to the site.
Keep up the good work.

Very easy to install and use. If it could map the co-ordinates of the different areas on the image it would be even better, but that's just a minor grump. I wasted ages trying to add an image map to joomla that disappeared as soon as the page was opened with an html editor, so this was exactly what was needed. Warmly recommended. Thanks!

I just downloaded this extension and within an hour I was laying out the home page that consisted solely of an image mapped graphic.
I understand some of the very minor issues raised in some of the reviews, but although I am not a top gun expert Joomla designer (yet), I had no trouble installing and using HTMLmap.
Well done! Thank you for a great tool!

I have been trying to insert image maps into my Joomla site for some time. Nothing but hassle, and code changes etc, then I stumbled upon this extension purely by luck. Just great. I had my image map in my homepage article within 30 mins from installing. Yes, the documaentation could be a little better, but if you have ever used image maps before, its pretty much common sense. And yes, you have to enter the coordinates from outside the application using your fav offline wysiwyg editor. This is the only reason I have not given this extension the full five stars. But if you are having fun with image maps. I can recommend this whole heartedly. Well done programmers. (Just need the coordinates to be entered from within and you have a surefire winner!)

Thank you for an awesome and very useful extension. It took me a while to figure it out but it is very user friendly. I didn't think creating an image map in Joomla! would be so easy.

This is a very wonderfull component. Easy to customize and use. However as other users have suggested, the tooltip font should be independent of the tempelate font settings so that it can be edited individually or a toolbar will be appropriate just like google maps

The tooltip styles will be editable in the 1.2 version

I install in the common way, then I create my html map in no time, all works fine. I have only one suggestion, I think that the documentation is some poor, of course that shows how to make a Map, but if I need some extra changes, I don't know where to start. I am on the search on how change the style of the notes, for example how to reduce the space between the cursor and the text, how to add some backuground to better read, If you can add this as param will be nice.
Any way, good job.

The style of tooltips (notes) is done in the template. You can take some example using the rhuk_milkyway template (file templates/rhuk_milkyway/css/template.css line 751-776). Try this template as your default template to see better viewing.

I needed a simple module to add an image map to my website; I didn't just want to add the map codes via HTML, though. This one does as I expected albeit a small learning curve in the beginning with the module and component.
I'd rate this 5 stars but I have a few wishlist requests for this fab component:
- ability to map the image in real-time (i.e. rather than entering the coordinates, as predrawn using your fav offline wysiwyg editor);
- additional parameters to set, such as tooltip length or width. basically, to edit the css via admin interface
Again, they're just wishful thinking for possibly a future version but other than that, HTMLMap manager is rather nifty! ^_^

The 1.1 version allows
-to set the tooltip max-width
-to display any type of content inside the toolip

This component is extremely easy to use. Any point on an image or a map makes it possible to establish the link with an menu item. The precision is very fine since on the pixel level of the image.

I have a static image map feature that needed to be converted to a Joomla component, but I wasn't able to find one that met my users' needs. This component works exactly as I needed, so users don't need to edit code once I set up the coordinates for them. Highly recommended if you need site visitors to be able to choose their location from a map graphic!
