We are lucky to have people like Michael Richey supporting the Joomla community
I had a customer who wanted a splash screen too, and everything I found was so complicated and convoluted (not to mention unreliable and ugly) that I knew I needed to come up with a different way.
Version 2.0 is just around the corner, and it will add much more functionality!
SplashR just does the job and the support is impeccable I sent an email to the dev and he answered within the hour with the solution to the problem.
The module is under active development. I have a new version that will be released around April. There are still a few bugs to work out, and a few more features to add based on suggestions from users (like spoonbow here).
Dude, you look like Gregory House (House is one of my favorite shows)
I have been using SplashR on my Joomla 1.5 site and I'm now migrating to 2.5... well, I hit a snag and SplashR had a problem (which I later found out was my problem) - the important part was the support which spotted my problem.
Great work. Great extension. Great support.
Only if you upload the file to your website, and point splashr to the URL. Unless your computer is a server, splashr can't display files located on it.
I published module on a specific page in various module position, I specified the URL of the page and nothing happens. I tried a few different things but just couldn't get it working.
I'm sure it DOES work >>> but you should really instruct people better, if not in the module, somewhere on your web site. PLEASE.
I wish you would have contacted me before hurting my reputation like this. Support questions for my extensions are answered immediately.
Yes, the module works, as the many positive reviews below indicate. Several also indicate my high level of support. Please contact me via my site so I can help you out and get rid of this blight in my reviews.
You probably have something misconfigured - it will be quick, I promise.
Just one suggestion: It would be even better if admin has option to lock out users from website completely, i.e. until they register or login. If I put login/register module inside splashr, then user cannot enter without having done either.
Still, I love it!
I may investigate that request in the near future. This extension needs a new revision with some fresh features.
Thanks for the suggestion.
