The features of the quiz component include:
* track the statistics with dynamically generated custom reports
* the possibility to add audio and video questions to quizzes
* the feedback options (final page feedback/ feedback for correct/incorrect answers/ feedback for each answer option in Multiple Choice type of question)
* select from 9 types of questions
* upload Multiple Choice and Multiple Response questions from .csv files
* you may select how many random questions will be added to the test from any category of the question pool
* each question of the quiz may belong to a certain question category
* export the selected test or all of them; or import previously saved quizzes;
* move or copy questions to other quizzes/question pool; copy tests or move them to another category;
* set any number of attempts for each question, set score points for each question
* set a time limit for passing a quiz/ set a time limit before a user will be able to take the quiz again;
* use one of the existing templates for quiz or edit CSS;
* manage menu items with the created quizzes in the menu manager;
* export/import language file (XML format) to change the labels to your own language;
* manage access levels for quiz (guest access/ for registered users only);
* allow user to email results to author's email/to the email specified by user;
* allow user to browse their quizzes results with an ability see the detailed result page;
* allows configuring redirect after taking a test;
* upload new certificate images for quizzes and input your text using different variables;
Built-in translation: French, Russian, Spanish languages. English is the default product language.
It is also possible to create learning paths within the quiz component. A learning path may include as many steps you want which can be either articles or quizzes. A user won't be able to go to the next step unless the previous one is completed.
There is a built-in payment integration. There is an automated payment integration that works with VirtueMart 1.1.4, and there is a manual mode as well (in case you are not using VirtueMart on your site to handle payments). Using manual way you'll need to add a record for the payment to the component and set the confirmed status which will mean that a user has access to a quiz or learning path.
The quiz component package includes the quiz results plugin for JomSocial which shows results for the tests that user has taken on his profile page.

This is the best quiz extension I've tried. With its learning path, you can make learning courses easily.
Two remarks however :
- It seems that you can access every protected article via the learning path. Indeed, while learning path is only for registered users, it gives access to everything. It's like Joomla access right were hacked with this component.
- It would be great to be able to configure the length of the inputbox in the question "fill-in-the-blank". It would allow to make questions in tables with a decrease of its size.
Apart from part, the component would be perfect for me.

We are already working on the further improvements of Learning Paths in the Quiz Deluxe component to make it even more functional and useful in the educational process. So we appreciate for the suggestion, we'll pay particular attention to the security matters.
We also plan to improve not only the length of the Fill-in-the-blank question fields, but the length of the answering options in other question types.

Our company recently bought this(would use it on multiple sites), and it is really a "deluxe". Absolutely worth the price.
Pros:
Hard to match its useful features and complexity (and as we've learned, there will be a major release soon, improving it more).
Furthermore, it comes in a pack,with modules and plugins (as every comp should have)
Cons:

It makes quizzes of any type - simple and with complex structure. I would appreciate detailed manual for it) this may save my time and support team's. Like pool and path.
This component runs on our school site, it is very flexible, offering different techniques question.
Unfortunately in the current version 3.0.3, there are problems with yootheme widgets (currently v.1.0.19 - 2nd December). Both developers say the other developers must fix the errors. somewhere sad

this is the most powerful component to make a test for me, like its possibility to use poll and make different quizzes using the pool in different categories.

Joomla quiz deluxe is a very useable and full featured product. I have to admit that I'm a hands-on kind of user so I didn't read any instructions before starting to use it. Most of the features are quite intuitive and easy to manage. I was able to create a very detailed quiz for my client's needs with only a short amount of time. The reporting features are also very clear and detailed - giving the kind of user info my client is most interested in.
The stylesheet is a bit confusing and requires some detailed knowledge of web layouts to be able to manage it successfully.
I found the forum very helpful in indicating solutions to the couple of issues I came across.

This is very appealing the developers team continue the component upgrading and gave me new Joomla 1.7 version and added new features as well. I have updated my component and I'm happy with it again.

It's a pity the one of the customers was not satisfied, but conditions of support are declared clearly and it's up to you to accept them and use the service or not. Why make so much ado? It's seems to be a misunderstanding.

this Quiz component is very useful for creation of quizzes both for fun and for learning - it has many question types and scalable structure. I want to express special thanks to the previous review author - he persuaded me to give it a try. And when user writes such great comment about something, the component should be really great. It's proved to me by my own experience. Hope site users will enjoy the tool too.
This extension is buggy in annoying though non-fatal ways. It also has an illogical and non-intuitive interface, and it suffers from poor English language translation. It has virtually no documentation, the support forum is unhelpful and there really is no support unless you pay more for it. As an already pricey extension for its type, that seems like a bait and switch.
Bugs I experienced right away:
-JCE and other visual editors fail to load.
-Video players do not work in quiz questions in some cases, without apparent reason. For example, JW All Videos works with FLVs in intro text descrciptions that preface a quiz but not in the questions themselves.
-Response emails are not issued.
Due to the bad UI, poor English, and lack of documentation, configuring different completion screens based on results is difficult.
There is some ambiguity as to how support works. The developer's website indicates support beyond the customer-to-customer support forum requires an additional purchase. However, after purchasing the extension without additional support, I received an email (again in poor English) that seemed to be saying I had a few days of free support, but those days had already passed. I did receive some support help by email regardless, but again it was in poor English.
I was able to fix the problems I had or find workarounds, but the email notifications generated when a quiz is finished are picked off by some server-side spam filtering, and that has remained a problem.
I do not mean to be insulting by mentioning the poor English, but it does add a great deal of frustration and doubt as to the quality of an extension and the developer, the reliability of the support, etc. I do not recommend using extensions that have these problems if you are constructing Joomla sites for serious clients since they will be frustrated and it will cast doubt on the Joomla brand altogether.

There are dozens of other customers who not only use the component, but just as well renew their subscription periodically, so it is not all bad. However, every customer is unique and might have his own point of view about what the good product is, so we are trying to do our best while solving software issues and all the complaints that are coming from our customers. This is why guys from our support group are always ready to answer any possible question that you might have about installing, tuning or using our component. If the component doesn’t have some features that you need we are sorry. We will try to add them to our next releases. Many customers of ours have many wishes for a certain features and believe it or not we simply cannot implement all of it within one component since it will become huge and slow, and nobody wants that. But as long as our current Help section of the documentation is fairly small, we are always happy to assist our customers via support desk and we are trying to give them adequately descriptive answers.
I can assure you, we will do our best to make next releases of this component as good, neat and defectless as possible, so it is convenient and easy to use for our customers, whom we value so much.

The review title may seem as a joke, but it is very well an extremely extensive extension. If you don't believe me you can check out the demo of the back-end that they offer. I was looking for an e-learning extension on my joomla site, and I got much more from this. There is a SICK amount of options, yet not frustratingly complicated.
Installation
The installation of the component was very easy. I was astonished on how detailed and extensive this Quiz Deluxe actually is.
I can really recommend Quiz Deluxe to anyone, I have tried most of the others too, but this one is the only one that really does what it promises. It is as far as I could see bug free, I saw on the support forums that some people reported some bugs but they are fixed nearly instantly.
Style
For those who are afraid that the extension is hard to customize, don't be. It is very easy to customize. The layout and presentation of the basic extension functions is very clean and structured. When editing you will see that it won't bug with your site and so this extension is one of the few, and for me the only Quiz extension that I found, that allows to make custom modifications without encountering 100 bugs and problems.
Operation
As for the operation of the mod itself, it is really user friendly, I am very bad at coding and have NO experience or what so ever with it, but it is really easy to operate.
Now I can use it to help myself and others learn better.
Support
They offer really good support. I had two problems, which I could have solved myself if I would have read the description in the Back-End better, but they made no bad remarks about it and just helped really friendly anyway. Not to mention fast.
I really haven't seen such good service on any Joomla component. It is actually ridiculous but they even help people with problems that in the end turn out to be caused by other things that Quiz Deluxe, so they are giving support for something that is not theirs. Talk about noble community attitude!

This component is truly a very nice component for making quizzes. You have multiple options for generating different kind of questions. I really like the Ajax loading of the quiz content which makes the quiz fast and more user friendly.
Hard to modify:
The one thing I do not like about this component is the ability to easy modify the look of the component. I took me a lot of time to find all the files which needs to be changed. The structure isn't standard and in my opinion not structured. Normally changing the look of components is more easy. I.E. you have to change files both in the component map and the media map. Also, because they use ajax, it's sometimes not clear where to find certain codes.
Bad html source code:
When looking at the sourcecode of the page with a quiz, it contains a bunch of script making the code very long. Isn't it possible to put this stuff inside js file(s)?

Wow! What a great job by the developers on this one. It's clean, simple and easy to use. They took to time to really polish it up and it would fit nicely in virtually any design environment.

I look like a hero to my client on this project and I owe it all to these guys. If you're looking for a quiz component, your crazy if don't at least give it a good hard look! It was worth EVERY penny.

I tested a lot off free components, but they didn't look like this one. It's just what I needed for my site.

The idea was to make a simple questionnaire for visitors, but I can't help but made a more complex thing using this tool. My sometimes funny questions were solved by support team. I like possibility to add several question types and even make paths for multilevel quizzes.
I work much with Joomla and try buy tools from one provider if possible.
This time I decided to pick this tool and it is great. It has a possibility to build quiz of any complexity with tree structure or just a few question quiz. It work with sef and it's important for me. Now I use half of it possibilities. Still if portal will grow as planned, I will use all features.
Only note is that you need read manual before work, or you may have questions.

My company site wanted to add a possibility to have a training quiz online for staff. So I pick this tool to do it. Installation is smooth, setting up a quiz is little complex since there are many options. On the other hand this makes tool flexible.
It would be great to add a possibility to root the quiz depending on the answer user gives to certain question. Then we could also make personality study. Is it already there? Maybe just need to read instructions better.
Will follow this team, their support answered my few questions fast.
