CMS Realty Popular ComponentModulePlugin

CMS Realty integrates the Open-Realty Real Estate Listing Management System with the Joomla Content Management System. Combining the best Content Management System with the best Real Estate Listing Management System provides a powerful and flexible website solution for real estate agents, agencies and portals.

In addition, while Open Realty is designed for Real Estate, it can easily be changed for any type of listings. I've seen it used for car dealerships, RV sales, boat sales, job listings, an escort service, general classifieds, and a lot more.

The component has the following features:
Released under the GPL.
Code is fully open source (no encryption).
Full user sync between Joomla and OR.
Works with Joomla and OR SEF.
Works with all SEF components. Since CMS Realty uses the OR SEF links, there is no need for a special extension for the SEF component. Just set the SEF component to ignore/skip CMS Realty.
Inserts OR meta tags into the Joomla template.
No changing or replacing any OR or Joomla files.
OR admin screen is incorporated into the Joomla admin area.

Works with the following:
TransparentRETS
TransparentMaps
IDX Manager
JAC Rental Calendar
Most addons available for OR

Modules are available to display featured listings, random listings, and a quick search form.

A plugin for SEF Service Map is available in the premium section of our forum.

4.28.09 - Version 2.0.1 released. Contains some minor bug fixes and changes to allow more OR addons to work under CMS Realty.

5.03.09 - Version 2.0.2 released. Quick fix so OR pages that open in popup windows do not load within the Joomla template.

Note: Open Realty does use mysql_pconnect as indicated in one fo the reviews below. Most quality hosts will have pconnect enabled. If your host does not have it enabled, it only requires a change to 1 line of the OR code. Please contact me through our forum for more information.

Excellent extansion! And the author is really a good man and brilliant professional. This is the only one component and even in compare with stand alone scripts that deserve to be used in real estate business. I know what I say. I’ve tested nearly all staff that mentioned here and more than that I tried about ten of commercial scripts for realty.

It gives absolute flexibility. In fact Open Realty is the most powerful script for arranging web representation of real estate agency. It is the best in its field. But Joomla is the best in its field: in site construction and management. Thank you for the man who combined this two features.
It is a rear situation when an open source component is much better then commercial ones. But it’s true. I say this as a person who manage real estate business in fact, not just a web builder or a coder.

So if you are looking for real estate solution, you should get Open Realty. If you want to get the best performance for serious BIG BUSINESS this extension, the CRM Realty is for you. You will need to work to install all this proper. But it worth be sure.
I Like the extension, But I have a problem in the site your talks about User integration between Joomla users and Open realty users, but I can't do this. I dont't if the integration is when I create a user in Joomla or in Open realty. And I think the documentation and the forum needs have information.
Having used both Joomla and Open Realty as standalone applications, I decided to integrate them using the CMS Realty component.

The installation was very simple but I did encounter one problem with connecting to the database. The documentation in this regard could have been (a lot) better.

Reluctantly (because of my experience using their support forum in the past), I decided to solicit help and as anticipated receive next to no help.

The product is very good and does integrate quite well with Joomla, however be prepared to receive somewhat terse and sarcastic (usually one or two word) responses via their forums.

It's a real shame because if the support and documentation were better, this would be a first class compenent.

Don't even bother with this component unless you have hours and hours to spend trying to figure out all the bugs.

There are no answers on the forums.

Very poor component. It's just a waste of time.

It's obvious Open Realty can't be linked with Joomla. Pity as Open Realty as a standalone is a good system.

I dont think this software is of much use as it fails to delivery the said funtionality. After integration of CMSRealty to Joomla the login part becomes a real mess and never works. Also, no proper documentation is provided about settings required, menu links from joomla to open realty and how to access the agents page..
The forum nowadays, also is not active and there arn't any replies (even if you are ready to pay for their service) when you PM or email the developers(PBFlash) of this software.

All in all a total waste of time n effort from myside.

Sorry you couldn't get it working. I know plenty of people that have it setup and working fine.

As to the forum, PM, and EM support, you are correct. I have not had much time to do any further development or support the component. My wife lost her job 4 months ago so I have had to take on additional work so I can keep food on our table and a roof over our heads.

What they do not tell you is that mysql_pconnect() must be enabled! It is a REQUIREMENT. If you have a shared server and your hosting company takes its' responsibilities seriously they will not enable pconnect!

The following explains the problems and vulnerabilities of using mysql_pconnect()
taken from alt-php-faq.org along with the "advantages".

"mysql_pconnect() acts very much like mysql_connect() with two major differences.

First, when connecting, the function would first try to find a (persistent) link that's already open with the same host, username and password. If one is found, an identifier for it will be returned instead of opening a new connection.

Second, the connection to the SQL server will not be closed when the execution of the script ends. Instead, the link will remain open for future use (mysql_close() will not close links established by mysql_pconnect()).

"A persistent connection comes with benefits AND costs. The benefit (not having to reconnect to MySQL) comes at the cost of eating memory and -- importantly -- tying up MySQL connections.

Persistent connections make a lot of sense for a high-volume application on a Web server that has a fairly narrow purpose. Persistent connections do not make sense for low-volume applications on machines that are shared by many other applications (which probably describes your Web site on a shared host).

On a machine shared by many Web sites hitting a common MySQL server, persistent connections could backfire by locking out other users."

CMS Realty does not require pconnect to work. It is required by Open Realty which is a totally seperate product.

Also, a good webhost will have pconnect enabled. The ones that don't are because they want to oversell their servers in their own best interest, not the best interest of their customers.

A thousand fold improvement over the previous version. After testing the component last weekend I was impressed to see that all the things necessary to building a truly integrated real estate solution with Joomla were added to this version of CMSRealty.

CMS Realty 2.0 now works with Joomla 1.5 natively, and it's available free to everyone. Everything does what it's supposed to, and the modules allow you to more tightly integrate the data from Open-Realty into Joomla.
What sets CMS Realty apart is their active development and trouble-shooting. Open source applications and extensions are wonderful for their flexibility, but the ongoing development and expert community are huge bonuses when it comes to painlessly setting up a website. Problems posted to their support forum are answered very quickly and efficiently.
I know Joomla and OR for quite some years and I was very happy seeing that the new CMS Realty now is Joomla 1.5 native.
So I did a fresh install of Joomla 1.5.10 and OR 2.5.6 on a test site.
After some little reading inside their forum I found a solution (Error loading modules) and now it's running like a charm
My review: Overall an excellent plugin and i like that the forum is active. It does need a bit of tweaking - although nothing major, but it's by far the best Real Estate solution for Joomla I have seen in years

Keep up the good work

I'm going to take a little extra time in rating this component since this component is of paramount importance with my setup. If you're looking for a quick bit of advice, in just a few words, THIS COMPONENT IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST COMPONENT FOR YOUR REAL ESTATE NEEDS. I've spent the better part of a year downloading and testing these things so that you don't have to.

Cost: It's free. Enough said. But you should donate if you like it, because nothing in this world that is worth having is "free."

Configurability: You won't find any encryption or encoding with CMS Realty 2 like with the other components listed in this category. If you've got to make a change, then go right ahead. Everything is there for you to tweak. It just doesn't get any better than that. Start using an encrypted component, and as soon as the developer is gone - so is your site. Encrypted components are just simply a bad move so don't do it if you don't have to.

Support: Visit the forum. It's active. Responses are given in reasonable amounts of time (usually same day if not within minutes). Not only that, but if you are one of the honorable folks who donate, Paul has been known to even go in to your site and fix things for you. He goes above and beyond for his customers. This is a dying trait and I congratulate him for this. Also, Paul was the first developer to create the bridge to Open Realty, and it follows that he knows the most about it.

Functionality: Works "seamlessly" by every sense of the word with Open Realty 2.5.x. Two very important positive things to mention here: 1. The URL's are SEF URL's when using SEF within Open Realty. 2. The user database is synced with Open Realty. There are a lot of details in "user sync" but know that your existing and newly created Joomla users are added to the Open Realty DB. The saved searches, favorites, email forms, and all of those important details in Open Realty will work without error in CMS Realty 2.

Cons: This part took me the longest. I just can't think of one single thing wrong with 2.0.

Conclusion: I've wasted a lot of valuable time on other components that just didn't pan out. Save yourself some time and start with this one. By using CMS Realty 2, my site is generating business, working beautifully, and is already at the top of the search engines for my chosen keywords. Thanks Paul.
Just received an advance of CMS 2.0 component. ($25, emailed to me same day.)Installed beautifully, configured, et al. Have not completely put it through the paces, but it's extremely promising so far. Have tried all the other extensions and nothing is as full featured as running this component with Open Realty. Just follow the instructions for installing OR then, install this component and its modules and your realtor client will be grateful.
CMS realty enables integration of Open Realty and Joomla into one seamless application. Open realty is an extremely robust and flexible real estate application that has a lot of power but for most users (me especially) it is not as easy to use as Joomla when it comes to adding content and additional functionality to the website. CMS Realty enabled me to integrate Open Realty with Joomla and have a great real estate web site that is very easy to maintain. Thus far CMS Realty only works with Joomla 1.0.x but I hear that will change very soon!
