On January 10th, 2017, JED will be enacting a new requirement for all extensions. They will have to provide compatibility with Joomla Update System, as a way to support a method to distribute security fixes, enhancements and new features.

Let's say you are switching to a new Joomla template and the position names differs from your old template; for example, the "left" position doesn't exist in your new template, instead is named "sidebar1".

Certainly you may edit each module to assign it to the new module position, but what if you have more than 50 modules? That would be an exhausting and repetitive work!

J and Beyond 2016 is around the corner. This time, JED team is proud to have a session devoted to introduce JED development, a new open collaboration process to improve our loved extensions directory. Take note and join us in this wonderful time of the year: 12 pm to 1pm, Sunday 22nd May - Room 4.

If you want to change colors, font properties, spacing, backgrounds and other design features, adding a custom CSS file is the answer.

If your Joomla site allows user login and registration,  you need an SSL certificate as soon as possible to keep the information your users submit encrypted. Otherwise, if any of your users login connected through public WiFi, their data will be submitted as plain text and can be intercepted by other people.
