Geek OpenStreetMap Module allows you to easily integrate OpenStreetMap into your website. It comes with a simple-to-use back-end control panel and various advanced settings to help you be able to easily customize a map to fit your requirements.

MAIN FEATURES

Multiple data sources
Module allows you to load markers from multiple data sources including managed list, GeoJSON files, articles and world GeoCoding service.

Easy to manage markers
You can easily add markers to map with autocomplete search box and draggable selector from powerful settings panel of the module.

Marker Clustering
The utility helps to manage multiple markers at different zoom levels. When users zoom out a map, the markers gather together into clusters, to make viewing the map cleaner.

Map Tiles
This feature enables you to change map style by selecting the Tile Server where the map will get tiles from.

Articles Integration
The Geek OpenStreetMap module is packed with one content plugin that enables you to insert map into an article.

GeoJSON
An open standard format designed for representing simple geometry types including Points, Lines and Polygons.

World GeoCoding
This feature enables users can find addresses and places in all supported countries around the world with the search box of the map.

Search Control
The autocomplete search box enables users to search markers/features location on maps.

Radius Search
Radius Search enables you to find markers that are only around the map center and inside specified radius range.

Find My Location
If user click on this button, the map will set center on user's current location. This option requires your site run over https protocol.

Built with Leaflet
Leaflet is the leading open-source JavaScript library for mobile-friendly interactive maps.

Why OpenStreetMap

OpenStreetMap is a free editable map of the whole world that is being built by volunteers largely from scratch and released with an open-content license.

The OpenStreetMap License allows free (or almost free) access to our map images and all of our underlying map data. The project aims to promote new and interesting uses of this data.

Since Google is now charging users of the Google Maps API, and many users decided to switch to other solutions like OpenStreetMap. That’s why we develop this extension to help Joomla users to integrate OpenStreetMap into your website for ease.

Functionality

This extension enables a location to be displayed in an article or locations in one map filtered by category or tag or author etc.

Ease of use

The extension is easy to set up using the the supplied documentation.

Support

The extensions from this developer all seem to be well supported including updating the extensions for the latest version of Joomla.

Documentation

The supplied documentation is sufficient to work out how to use the extension.

Value for money

Geek OpenStreetMap is not expensive and is excellent value for money.

I used this to: I often use this on tourism related websites to show locations of accommodation, attractions and activities.

Functionality

A great substitute for Google Maps that I wanted to move away from. Easy to install and configure.

Ease of use

Very easy. There is documentation but its very intuitive. Just create modules and complete simple configuration for each.

Support

Support is brilliant. Couple of queries quickly replied to and took notice of a feature request which was included in next version promptly

Documentation

Yes but only needed as backup as its easy to configure. Once you've set up the first module the rest are simple.

Value for money

Great value for money and a pleasure when all works well with no hassle.

I used this to: A website that uses lots of locations based on articles. The tab within each article is easy to complete.

Very good, you can add multiple markers and define a center for the map, customize design and more...

Ease of use

Very easy to setup, you just need to learn more about tile map but after that it's very easy

Support

I posted a feedback on forum and received an answer very quickly and improvments asked will be implemented.

Documentation

Not needed, the module is really easy to use and don't need some documentation.

Value for money

Very usefull if you need to leave Google Map and have a good alternate solution

I used this to: We use it on customers's website and we will use it for all our projects who requier a map
