Quick and easy

Nice and easy extension to do something simple. Got it working quickly and looks good on my homepage.

For future versions, it would be nice to be able to change the color of the boxes when you hover over them from in the backend of Joomla. Also, the auto-wrapping of titles doesn't always line up correctly when one title is long and others are short. It still looks fine though, just a suggestion. :)

Great plugin, works great in Joomla 3.0

Great plugin. Works perfectly and just what I was looking for. I really like the way the gallery feature was integrated, it's very useful for what I needed.

A future feature suggestion:

It would be nice to have the option in the backend to turn on and off whether visitors can see the next and previous navigation before hovering. I added that manually with css by adding the buttons to the element and using opacity pretty easily, but thought I would offer the suggestion for possible improvements. if you wanted to

Simple and easy to use

A great extension that's simple, easy to use, and integrates well with Joomla and themes.

Beware that they say on their website that the version for Joomla 2.5 is in beta mode and has been that way for quite awhile now. But, I decided to go for the beta version because I know enough of what I'm doing to fix things if needed. But no fixes were needed, it worked nearly flawlessly.

There is only a light and dark theme, which I didn't realize were the only themes, but they worked well with my website theme anyway. The "rounded" versions don't work on IE, but that's just because IE is so behind times with CSS standards.

The plugin is really easy to install, setup, manage, and it integrates with Joomla's core very well. I didn't have to modify much code, so I don't know how well it's written, but it seems to work well and beautifully integrated.

Overall a great simple forum if you're not looking for something with a lot of bells and whistles.

It also has great functionality for creating private forums, which was essential for me.

Poor web design practices and barely anything useful in free version

Be aware, the free version places a link to the author's website in the footer on every page in your website. It also automatically turns itself on and has settings to rewrite all of your urls using title links instead of aliases upon install. It also decided to replace my custom designed 404 page automatically.

This is such horrible web design practice to change everything on your website upon first install. It's always good to test things and review the extension before going live! I had it live on the client's site for a good 20 minutes before I noticed. I learned my lesson to always always always use a test site because of developers like this. Authors, you need to have it disabled upon install and have the rewriting urls be set to alias' to begin with, since that is how Joomla's default is.

It also seems to lack a vast majority of the useful features and extensions unless you purchase it. I only found about 1 or 2 useful things in the free version that are somewhat useful. I'm uninstalling it. I probably would have considered purchasing it for all of the other functionality it looks like it gives to paid users, but with everything mentioned above, I'll pass.

Sorry for a bad review, I don't like to post bad reviews unless I feel like someone else might find it useful information and to hopefully help the developer decide on issues to possibly fix.
Owner's reply: We do respect your opinion and feedback.
However, it is often matter or each users' opinion - from our experience, vast most users prefer the out-of-box functionality with minimum or no need to configure anything; that is why JoomSEF gets activated automaticaly upon installation.
As regards the default settings (title vs alias), it also depends on preferences of each user. You are of course free to change this as it is one of the basic settings. Same with 404 page.
But at this point - that alias might be the default setting instead of title - I agree.

It is of course responsibility of developer to install on a devel or a test site first. Installing any new component on a live client's size without prior testing it, is irresponsible at least.

The fact that the free version includes authors signature is also well known. Except mentioning this several time at our website, it is also mentioned directly here at JED.

From your review, I am not sure what functionality you were looking for, but the primary goal of JoomSEF is that the URLs it generates and can handle can be anything you want and helps you generate and manage the meta-tags.

Great extension!

I've used a few other similar extensions and found this one to be hands down the best one I've found so far! Easy to use, a lot of extra features I didn't notice before downloading that are super helpful, and it works like a charm! This is the 2nd extension from this developer I am thoroughly satisfied with, thanks for writing high quality great extensions! I am going to look into all the other extensions this developer makes and would be confident in purchasing from them.
