Doesn't show on homepage

Posted on 25 August 2011
Pretty good module, but it doesn't show up on my homepage. Did I miss anything? I suppose this is because it doesn't belong to a specific category? Is there no default where the categories for a default section are shown?

Also it seems to me that there should be a way to limit the number of articles displayed. For example if you have a category with 3 articles and one with 15, you will have a very short module in some cases and an extremely long one in others (in auto mode). So it would be nice to be able to set a limit of, say, 5 articles per category.

Also there doesn't seem to be any option to display articles by date???

so many options, and no documentation???

The incredible amount of options of this plugin make it almost unbelievable that there is no documentation to be found anywhere. This could have been remedied by clear and explanatory popup tooltips, but these also say next to nothing. Can't give a high rating to an extension that leaves it up to guessing games to learn it.

Good, but problem with translation of categories

Good extension, but for static display of content only. I find the setting of parameters limited: picking from lists of sections and category names would be much more convenient than looking up every category id number. Also most formatting has to be done by editing css files.

One major bug: though the module works well for the most part with joomfish, it fails to pick up the translation of the category, rendering it always in english no matter what language is selected. I hope this can get fixed soon and I will gladly raise my rating.

Excellent also for multi-lingual sites

Perfect! A great feature not advertized is that the module works flawlessly with Joomfish for multilingual sites.

Doesn't work

I run a J1.5 site on Dreamhost, which supports mod_rewrite. I tried installing the component by following the instructions. Changed the admin name, logged out, tried to log back in with the new name. 404 not found error. Impossible to log back in with new name or administrator. Fortunately the instructions to uninstall are correct, which I did and came back to square 1.
Owner's reply: The problem probably are in Dreamhost.
See other success installations below.

Apache have write permission in directory from your site?
Specially in administrator?

nice extension but...

I like joomlawatch but it seems to have two major flaws. First, it completely misidentifies country locations. For example, I am now in Italy but according to joomlawatch I am in Spain. And I have a friend visiting my site in Germany but according to joomlawatch she is in the U.S. So I cannot trust it at all when looking at visitor countries. Second, I can't seem to set the number of visible visitors on the backend. For example now I set it to 50 but I can only see some 15 or so.
