Perfect to migrate 1000s of articles(etc) from J!1.5 to J!3.3

Functionality

Worked just as described - I was able to migrate thousands of articles/categories/menus from my J!1.5 site to J!3.3, and they all kept their same URLs!

Ease of use

I had a few issues (not related to this extension, mainly that I failed to properly back up all my files, plus user error) - but once I knew the proper steps, the extension worked perfectly.

Support

Excellent! When I ran into issues accidentally replacing my super admin, they gave me the exact steps/settings to follow - worked perfectly!

Well worth it.

I used this to: migrate from J1.5 (over 4000 articles) to J2.5 a few years ago, ran into some issues (NOT RELATED TO THIS EXTENSION) and never completed the task til recently.

During recent attempt, inadvertently replaced super admin. Contacted support and they gave me the proper steps.

You would think that developers would be all over creating extensions that helped users and developers migrate content from one Joomla site/version to another. That's like you would think that Microsoft would have come up with a backup solution along the lines of Time Machine some time ago. On both counts you'd be wrong.

But SPTransfer, for 2.5 to 3.x transfers and SPUpdate for 1.5 transfers is far and away the best I've used. Transfer articles, users, modules, menus, categories, all of it with a few simple steps. Well, simple if your geek quotient is fairly high but pretty straightforward nonetheless.

There are always going to be a few glitches here and there; databases can be finicky that way. But overall these extensions save a great deal of time and effort.

I highly recommend them.

I dont know what kind of sites those people have with the good reviews,my site has over 40k members and most important to my site didnt work almost nothing of what they are promising,i even asked for their payed help,i offered them money to help me make the upgrade,nothing at all.

Where others find the suport great,i dont know it.

I am still in 2.5

I’m an old veteran who is no expert on programs whatsoever. But I really needed to upgrade from 1.5 versions of Joomla! to 3.2. I have had a lot of attacks on my websites and some of them were successful. I had some difficulty in understanding the program which was no fault of the program or its designer. It was me and boy was his support incredibly forthcoming. Anytime I had a question this man was extremely giving of his time.

After I followed the instructions this program was extremely easy to use and I am so grateful because it’d save me months of work because I have a lot of websites that needed upgrading.

I'm on a fixed income so I have to be careful like many others regarding what I purchase. And I will honestly tell you, if this man has a product or service that I need I would go to him rather than anyone else. Again the support is absolutely wonderful and the program works great!

I'm the webmaster of 15 school websites which were based on Joomla 1.5 and I wanted to migrate the sites to Joomla 3. I already tested other migration scripts, but in SP Upgrade, I found finally the script of my needs. After 5 migrations I had a problem with the user transfer of one site, but the question I sent to the support was answered in 5 minutes (!) and solved the problem. Excellent work!!!

I downloaded SP Upgrade to migrate a 2.5-3x site, but that didn't work.

I send an email to SP CYEND and they told me I choose and paid for the wrong extensions...I needed SP Transfer. For me that wasn't clear in the download page. They send me the SPtranfer.zip in their reaction mail. Excellent service!

I migrated more then 10 Jommla! 1.5 to 3.x using SP Upgrade and it is just a great tools.

Usually, I'm making the migrations locally with xampp or mamp pro, and install locally the old DB as well. That is the way it work the best for me.

The templates are also prepared for Joomla! 3 (templateDetails.xml) and put in /tmp, so it is easy the control, correct and install them.

I just had lately a tiny problem with Joomla! 3.3.1 and the support was fast and good.
