Just have to follow 3 steps.
1.install the plugin
2.publish the plugin .
3.Check the 5 forms(mentioned above).
Though not required in most cases,we reccomend to go to admin page of the plugin and do the 2 addtional steps to enhance security against spam attacks ,they are
1.Set 'yes' for 'Enable second level security for Core forms' after making sure the captcha appears in all the above mentioned forms.(not needed from version 2.0 onwards)
If captcha doesnt appear in any of those forms(this will be due to template overrrides ),set 'No' to auto add feature for that particular form (otherwise that form wont work after enabling second level security check)
OR
Use the php block (mentioned in the documentation page )in the overridden template file of the form to have the captcha controls appear there
2.Further there is a layer of backend spam protection with the help of botscout api which could prevent even human spams to an extend.We reccomend you to enable this as well.
Can also be included with other joomla forms by putting the PHP block shown in the download page(this is different from version 2.0 onwards).For this you need to loacte the file that contains the html of the form.It is recommeded that this be done by coders or with their help though installing and publishing the plugin could be done by anyone(which in turn will add the captchs to the 3 forms mentioned above)
Currently there are 2 limitations for this plugin
1.If the html part is customized for com_user,mod_login or com_contact,it may not work.Since this is aimed for non techy joomla users it wont affect them as they dont edit any files
2.Enabling auto add for mod_login(not available from version 2.0 onwards) is subject to conditions and is disabled by default.if you enable it, make sure that it is in a unique position ,position must be any of these('left','right','top','user2','user3') .The position occupied by mod_login should not contain any other modules
I have included a link to the download page of this plugin with the captcha image.You are free to remove it,though I will be happy to have that link with the captcha image :)

AJAX verification introduced in version 2.0 beta so that form data is not lost on submission due to wrong captcha value.Coders/developrs are requested to check this and mail feedback

That's a useful plugin, just installed and got it working. No pain, it worked immediately.
Very good extension! If the developer make the text font-size bigger it will be better.
My Joomla/Virtuemart site has been plagued with rogue signups and I've been searching for an easy to use Captcha option to prevent this. OSOLCaptcha is it! It installed instantly, I published it and enabled the options I wanted and away it went. The only thing I had to tweak was the VM registration page, but adding the code given in the plugin info page to the VM registration page was the work of a minute and it works a treat. Thank you!
If anyone else wants to know how to make it work in the VM registration page I'd be happy to tell you.

Advantages: Integration with different forms, ease setup. You can configure the extension to your own website design.
Disadvantages: does not support reCAPTCHA/
Once in Joomla 2.5 appear reCAPTCHA, there was no longer to use the OSOLCaptcha

for those who have read this review,THIS IDIOT is complaining that there is no recpatcha in my plugin which actually is a feature request.please check http://docs.joomla.org/Joomla!_Extension_Directory_FAQs#Reviews( which clearly states that feature request could not be posted as user review ).please read the forum thread(http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2550978) about other instances these types of craps as well
Thanks for the extension, it was really helpfull because I could insert it in my own form.
But I want to ask something: if I try to modify osolCaptcha.php, it breaks all my website with the message "unexpected T-STRING in .\plugins\system\osolCaptcha.php line 1". If I only download the file and upload it without modifications, the error is displayed too.

This is an absolutely fantastic extension and does exactly what they claim it will do. It is very clean, can be customized to color adapt to any website theme colors. With bot filtering too that helps even further to keep the spammers away. Great work and I look forward to future releases.
Followed the instructions mentioned on this site but got broken images when displaying the captcha. It was not clear how to resolve this.
I am sure it is a good product for some - but - just noting that the 1,2,3 step approach for installation does not appear to be so.

I had opened a forum thread(http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2550978) about LAZY IDIOTS LIKE YOU who think you are experts just to underrate extensions here because of YOUR STUPIDITY without even trying to contact the developer.but unfortunately people like you still seems to have a free hand
