- This extension requires registration to download.
Many times we want to attach files for download in our articles. We needed an easy way to do that, and unfortunately Joomla Media Manager allowed only images handling. So we modified the component and added this exact functionality.
While editing any article from back end, or front end you are now able to upload from your PC and attach in your article ready to download.
If you are already familiar with Joomla Media Manager, then you will have no problem using that component.
2. SP Download button is not attaching the file as attachment icon but it shows as a whole picture in the article. After save and publish, it will display as a broken picture link in the web site.
3. Support is good but unable to resolve the issue.
4. I abandon the extension and use another extension
5. My Joomla version is 3.1.1
One one thing I struggle with; pdf files upload to subdirectories of the default /images folder using the extension and appear in Media Manager. However, SP Download doesn't seem to be able to find them afterwards. No problem if they are in the /images folder though. A little odd but I've tried everything I can see to sort it out.
Don't let this put users off though, as this extension is otherwise really good and simple to use :-)
I did have an issue getting PDF files to upload through the SP control but have gotten that cleared up.
If anyone is having trouble uploading pdf files (using V 2.0) add application/x-pdf to the accepted MIME types in the component options. Since PDF files are probably the most downloaded document, this should probably be added as a default MIME type.
Had a problem getting this to work, and although I resolved it myself in the end, the speed of the email response from the developer was excellent.
This extension does exactly what it says on the tin - fantastic little tool.
With SP Download, I found it! So easy to install and use. For my purposes I didn't need an image to be included with the download link, so I simply removed the image tag from the html, but I'm sure that it could be included in the php file as an option, I'm just not php fluent.
Thanks for this easy and effective extention!!
