Ecwid is a dream come true and I don't mind the nominal monthly fee for something stable, functional and easy for customers to use!

I've used Virtumart for years and have had to hack-together some very delicate additional components to get it to function in a comprehensive way, ie. uploads, and tons of css code cracking for a more pleasing and customer friendly layout. Additionally, I had many customers 10% or more that encounter cookie conflicts preventing 'add to cart' with their chosen browsers which has cause me to quickly help them perform an off-line sale.

Ecwid is fast - set up the store and authorized.net gateway in less than two hours.
Ecwid is stable - off-site CRM handling, processing and tracking sales.
Ecwid is easy to design - click, click, save, done.
Ecwid is intuitive - Zero customers have called to ask how to buy something.

Since I switched over two weeks ago my store life has been a dream.

The only two features that I would add immediately is the ability to customize the emailed customer invoice so it uses less paper and uses a smaller font AND the ability to organize orders in the back end into product folders. This would help a great deal is keeping track of fulfillment.

Many of the reviews below are of Ecwid. While some of the information is useful, it's misplaced on this extension page.

RokEcwid makes easy work of including your Ecwid store profile in Joomla and setting some of the basic layout parameters. Two thumbs up.

Seen a forum post stating that Paypal Pro would be ready first quarter of 2012... guess what? Yep, still not ready to use.

No SEF URLs and meta data capabilities out of the box and for paying customers as well. Your competitors will dominate you in the search engines.

Using Google Adwords? Well, you can kiss your quality score goodbye, because content does not showup on page the way that Google Adwords needs to see it... even with inline seo enabled with silver membership.

Looking to retarget / remarket to customers? You better forget that as well. There is no way to add codes to product specific pages. Again, your competitors will dominate you in the competitive search game.

If you're looking for an easy to install alternative shopping cart, Ecwid is for you. But if you are a serious business owner looking to make money, than it's best to look else where for a more robust shopping cart platform.

This extension is great. I love it. And I have recommended it to many friends.

But there is no Login Module, it becomes not so convenient. That's what we want next version to appear.

Ecwid is NOT a free tool !
It says Free everywhere but not true. I had to switch to VMart after using Ecwid for a couple of months... It turned out you have to purchase it for $17 a month if you need more than 100 products. Of course, after adding 100 products you will have to pay!
Very limited control over the catalog, ordering system, customer fields...
But, Rockettheme... Cannot say anything bad about them! Great service, products, support, and designs... All the best

Running a small businesses is the key to any country's growth but man it is tough to get going today versus yesterday. Not with open source helping out however. Set up web site with Joomla, set up CRM with sugarcrm, integrate them, then set up Ecwid.

Like everyone said it was a dream compared to using the other shopping carts some well known, others not so much. The support was the icing on the cake no matter the stupid questions that I may have asked. Thank you Rocketheme for leading me to the right solution.

Thank you Ecwid for giving our products and services a leg up out there. Just need the last step for integrating into Sugarcrm and later an ERP. Not sure about your order API fee. Maybe you should align it to your free up to 100 products policy, for instance free for x amount of transcations per month. I'll make do with work around meanwhile.

RocketTheme has created a fabulous bridge to Ecwid in their Mercado template. These two systems are redefining shopping carts!

IMHO Ecwid is simply the finest shopping cart out there. It is made by the same team that created X-cart, which I have used for 7 years.

Set up an account, add your products, copy and paste some widget code into your pages and your carts live!

Your store on your website can also be embedded into your Facebook page. Ecwid is a Software as a Service meaning you log into their website to control your website store AND your Facebook store from the same system. It's free up to 100 products.

I have used just about every shopping cart out there including all the Joomla carts like VirtueMart, etc. If you build websites or are simply looking for a great way to sell products on your website and or Facebook page, then look into Ecwid.

I probably put in 100 hours on Virtuemart over the last year... so much aggravation for such little result. Then I found ecwid and within a day I had two shops running.
A caveat, however, ecwid has a 100MB limit on downloadable files. When they fix this, or make it easy to link to download files on your own server... this product will be Perfect!

For a small store (100 products os less) is free more than 100 you need to pay but it's worth it!!

I love how easy it was to set up products and set shipping rates. No tricky configuration screens, no confusing image issues. It came with several basic modules and checkout is really professional looking too. I'm a Virtuemart convert!

I came across this on another website - I liked the look and ease of use of their shopping cart. I tried a few others but they were just not right. This one is free, quick, looks great and was so easy to set up. When I go in and edit or add products, I can do it so quickly. It seems to take longer doing it through virtuemart. I just discovered ECWID they have a joomla extension so I installed it and it has integrated seamlessly. Their instructions are so clear and concise and their website contains everything you need to know. Love it!

First of all, I think ecwid cart is fantastic. It is a great choice for a shopping cart on any site. Integration with joomla is also great, the extension works well with the site. If you want to get the full use out of this extension, I would also install the ecwid component.

(Im not sure why it is not in the extensions directory.) All work very well together.

I must give anything associated with ecwid 5 stars. I too went through many other carts - I didn't find this one because it was in the "e-commerce bridges" category.

So, after being tortured for a couple days by the other carts I found on here I finally found ecwid! It is awesome. Only improvement is to integrate the joomla & ecwid sign in - But if you go to their forums you know they will do this! They are very focused on providing a great product and the support provided (mostly by Eugene) is amazing. I look forward to seeing this company crush the competition.

I am growing in my understanding of Joomla, but I tell you... I've tried almost every shopping cart available and had WEIRD problems that I just couldn't fix. For people like me who not only want to offer an easy shopping experience but who also ENJOYS an easy shopping experience, I feel like I struck gold here. I do hope this service grows in popularity. Excellent job, I just don't know what else to say. I would recommend Ecwid to ANYONE who uses Joomla. The potential is unlimited... and the ease of use is well, just ideal. Thank you...

This is a nice module in many ways, as a x-cart user for years, I would say ecwid is an excellent invent on the planet, just x-cart has unbreakable position in the standalone shopping cart software market, ecwid will take off too. But one thing to be perfect: it should integrate with joomla's login, otherwise it would be a problem. That is the last step keeping me away from using it developing my new site. Well, it is strange that a joomla module does not share a login with joomla. Ecwid is the only I can see.

This module should be a popular one. It is really easy to setup and is really complete in the things it supports.

I have tried several e-commerce solutions for Joomla, e.g. Virtuemart, AMBRA, iJoomla Digistore etc. Each of these components are so heavy and often confusing to use and it takes a lot of time to configure the components. Then I stumbled onto ecwid, and I am so thrilled with it. It is so easy to use and has all the frequently used functions as you expect, when you build an online webshop. They have great support and it looks like they put a lot of effort into the project.

This is a nice module. The best e-commerce app hat I tested yet. The pro is that is lighter and faster than those big components like VM. The reason that I rated good is beacuse its lack of integration with Joomla, a good thing in the next version is to integrate the registration with the joomla site so that when a user register in the store of ecwid it automatically register in the site and vice versa.Once integrated completely with Joomla I think it would be a excellent module.

This is amazing! I have been looking for a cart to use for at least 2 weeks now. I was using Simple Caddy but hated the limited support, tutorials, and it just lacked class.

At first it was a little hard to start off, just because I didn't realize that I had to create the cart off site. But once I created the Ecwid cart, it was really easy to get going. I haven't used the Paypal API yet, but I am going to configure that later today.

Great product, and I am still shocked that it is free! If you continue to work on this project, and feel the need to charge, I would be more than happy to contribute.
