DB Replacer enables you to search and replace in any table in your database.
It even supports searching with case sensitivity.
Sometimes you need to replace something in all your articles. That takes hours doing it the conventional way: open article, change, save article, open next article, etc...
With DB Replacer this takes a few seconds.
DB Replacer gives you a preview of what is going to be replaced, so you know what you are doing before actually replacing anything.
WARNING: DB Replacer replaces stuff right in your database in the places you tell it too. This can - if you replace the wrong stuff - break your site. So be careful and only use this if you know what you are doing.
How to use it: http://www.nonumber.nl/dbreplacer
NoNumber extensions require php 5.3+
See for more requirements: http://www.nonumber.nl/dbreplacer#requirements
For support use the forum: http://www.nonumber.nl/forum
Do NOT use below reviews to post support requests or issues.
Whilst you could write some complicated MySQL queries and do this in the database, being careful to escape all the necessary characters, it's much quicker and easier to use this component.
The ability to use WHERE clauses and regular expressions in the pro version lets you confine your searches to eg catid=10 and to find/replace items that vary from page to page (as long as they follow a predictable pattern)
I had an issue matching line endings and the developer came back within 24 hours with the solution (\s\s or \s+ in regex mode for anyone else having trouble with this)
Peter also provides a level of support that is simply amazing.
A combination of a great product and great service will always foster growth, productivity and increased awareness.
I am very happy to rate this a 5+ extension for both productivity and customer service excellence.
I wanted to replace a complete tab content (VMD tabs) in about 1400 products with nothing, just delete a complete tab and all content. The syntax was slightly different in some cases but with a look at the forum and the use of some regular expressions I was able to do the job (costing days in a normal way) within one hour or so...
There are free versions (I'm a Pro User) of all NoNumber extensions available but one of these days I will buy a Lifetime Bundle for sure... It's wurth every penny and more, this guy is a genius...
Make a back-up before you use this extension, just in case!
Well done Peter!
The tool is really powerful and easy to use!
Much more flexible than writing SQL code in phpmyadmin.
Peter really knows with his extensions what we webbuilders need! Thanx!

As I backed up the database each time before using it, I felt very confident and after a good amount of use it has been successful.
I had an issue that it only works with the default Isis Admin template (not the Hathor one) and Peter the developer could not have been more helpful with this and another issue. Mind you, by the time I got his personal support I had purchased the Pro version, which was what I planned to do anyway (as it is even better) and for such a serious task as editing inside the database it was well worth the money.
Not only have I saved lots of time but I have also increased the new website quality by a good margin.
Well done Peter and thanks.
I needed to fix the image tags in about 160 articles on a new site.
This component is very very cool.
It allowed me to specify the string for which to search, and as I typed it in and specified the target table, it highlighted the changes that it was going to make so that I could pre-approve the changes.
The free version only does 50 records at a time, but it works very well, so I just did it three times.
THANKS for this EXCELLENT Component!
BTW - MAKE A BACKUP FIRST, you never know when yo might need it.
To handle with care. You better know what you are doing and keep track.
But seriously, So much use cases.
You won't need it everyday.
But you will sleep peacefully knowing you have this one ready.
Was of great help for an upgrade from 1.5 to 2.5, after having used an extension to import most of the site, used DBReplacer to adapt components and do minor corrections and stuff.
I guess you can drive your joomla site from there...
That i dont like about it, is that as far this extension evolves, its actually becomes less and less feature complete - features previously available for free in 2.1 ("Where" option and regexp) was removed in later free version, moved to paid version. I appreciate developers hard working but i doubt this is right way.
