Introduction

Core Enhancements

Sourcerer - place any code anywhere.

Sourcerer enables you to place PHP and any kind of HTML style code (including CSS and JavaScript) right in to your content! Not only in your articles, but also in sections, categories, modules, components, META tags, etc.

You can now just place your original codes right into your WYSIWYG editor. The only thing you have to do is surround the code with the Sourcerer tags. Easy peasy!

So now you can also use PHP scripts in your content. That opens up a great deal of possibilities.

Most Joomla! Text Editors will strip parts of your HTML code, like JavaScripts (think of statistics scripts) and movie embed tags. With Sourcerer you won't have these limitations.

Easy to use editor button
Sourcerer comes with a very easy to use editor button. This will help you paste your code in a clean format that will not cause any problems. Also it comes with syntax coloring (php, js, css, html).

Functionality
I only used it for PHP, but I'm sure it would work for JS and CSS too. Fantastic extension.
Ease of use
There is no need to configure it. It just works out of the box.
Documentation
I used this to: Adding php to Joomla pages. I was considering crippling Joomla's cleanup code. Then I found Sourcerer.

Functionality
Joomla 3.4, works perfectly with no tweaking.
Ease of use
Simple to install, nothing that's unusual or unexpected.
Documentation
It's all there.
I used this to: Therer are lot of ways to add some JS code to Joomla!; it's not very difficult. BUT, sometimes, you want to make a bit of Javascript work on a single module. Sourcerer is BY FAR the easiest way to do this. No Javascript conflicts observed.

For those cases where you need hard coded PHP or JavaScript code in an article or module, Sourcerer is the go-to solution.
Ease of use
A new button below the article editor allows insertion of the necessary short codes; examples included.
Documentation
The tutorials contain many real-life usage examples and how to work around any editor integration difficulties.
I used this to: Various PHP and JavaScript snippets. Code examples show how to use part of the Joomla! Framework, so you can even integration your own "mini-plugins" in a module. This extension is also a Joomla-Handbuch recommendation.

It is very functional and lets you insert code even where Joomla wants to strip away the code. Sourcerer does not allow it!
